London Sport distributes £530,000 to tackle inequality in the capital
More than half a million pounds is being distributed to grassroots clubs, sporting organisations, local authorities, and charities in London to help address deep-rooted health inequalities worsened by the pandemic and the cost-of-living crisis. Read more.
£5.7m funding for Opening School Facilities
Applications are now open for schools to apply for up to £20,000 per year over the next three years via the Opening Schools Facility project. The project, with funding from the Department for Education, is designed to help schools provide more opportunities for their pupils and local communities to take part in sport and physical activity. Any London state-funded Primary, Secondary, All-through, Special, or Pupil Referral Unit can apply, with applications being prioritised for schools that are in areas of higher social deprivation and having no current (or limited) community access onsite to the school sports facilities. London Sport to partner with the Elevate Conference

London Sport is delighted to announce Paul Osborn as a new appointment to our Board of Trustees. Paul is the Council Leader for Harrow and joins the London Sport Board of Trustees whom all share our ambition to help all Londoners live longer, healthier, and happier lives through being active.?
Less than half of young Londoners are meeting recommended levels of physical activity
A new report published by London Sport – using Sport England’s Active Lives Children and Young People Survey – demonstrated positive signs across the nation but showed that London was still lagging behind the rest of the nation for 5–16-year-olds’ activity levels. Read the full report.?

Go! London Fund
The Mayor of London, London Marathon Charitable Trust, and Sport England, with strategic support from London Sport and London Marathon Events, have come together in a new Go! London partnership to use sport and physical activity to transform the lives of children and young people aged 4-24 in London. Access Sport: Youth Board applications are open
Access Sport is searching for young people between the ages of 15 and 25 with a passion for making a difference through sport to join its Youth Board. It welcomes and encourages applications from young people who are disabled, from ethnically diverse communities, who are female, and from different religions and backgrounds. Apply here.?
Helping people from all backgrounds learn to swim
Inspire 2022 aims to help diverse and disadvantaged communities learn to swim as part of a Commonwealth Games legacy project. Swim England is one of 21 national governing bodies to receive a share of £6.5 million from Sport England’s package of investment to create long-lasting national impact following the success of Birmingham 2022. The £500,000 funding will help deliver Swim England’s Inspire 2022 project plan and use innovative and accessible opportunities to help people from all kinds of backgrounds in the West Midlands take part in swimming.

Sport and recreation organisations unite to protect the sector
London Sport CEO, Emily Robinson, along with other sector leaders, has urged the Government to protect vital community sports facilities following the proposed Energy Bill discount scheme. Read more here.
Physical Activity for Health
New 'Moving Medicine' Physical Activity resources for additional health conditions
'Moving Medicine' has just launched four new resources designed to help healthcare professionals have better conversations about physical activity with people suffering from anxiety, people with type 1 diabetes, people who are obese, and people experiencing menopause.
The Moving Healthcare Professionals Programme evaluation
The Moving Healthcare Professionals Programme (MHPP) is a national programme, led by the Office for Health Improvement and Disparities (OHID) in partnership with Sport England, to support healthcare professionals to increase their knowledge, skills, and confidence to integrate physical activity within routine care for the prevention and management of long-term conditions.
