Govt of India has notified in Section 142 of the social security code that any for availing any social security schemes or any benefits such as EPFO withdrawal, Pension, Loan, sickness benefit, maternity benefits, etc individual member need to link his Aadhaar with UAN and similarly in ESIC IP needs to link his Aadhar.
Although the Social Security code is yet to be implemented as the rules are being framed for it Sec 142 of the Social security code has been implemented, which govt has made mandatory. EPFO has gone one step further and issued a notice that sec 141 will be implemented in EPFO effective 1st June 2021.
EPFO has further said that if the individual member Aadhar is not linked then the employer will not be able to generate the ECR and their PF contribution will not be deposited in the PF Account.
Let us see, how to check whom all are not linked.
Step 1: Log in to PF Portal, then click on dashboard, select Active member list, and export the file to excel there you can check who all are the employees whose Aadhar is not linked.
NB: For the last 3 years no UAN can be generated without having the Aadhar details, by using the active list we can find the old employees who were joined earlier and their Aadhaar remains to be linked.
Step 2: Once you have identified the member whose Aadhar is not linked then you can get the details and both employer and employee have the option to update his details as follows:
Employer:
- Log in to the EPFO portal, click on the member, Member profile, Enter the UAN no, click on KYC and update the details (Aadhar, Bank & Pan is a must), click on save and approve the same using digital signature.
Employee:
- Log in to the member portal, click on the Manage tab, then on the KYC tab, and update the details, your employer will receive a pop-up and will approve it.
- KYC can also be updated using the Umang App, download the app from Google play store, select EPFO, click on KYC services, in drop-down select Aadhar seeding you will receive OTP to your UAN linked mobile and later one more OTP to your mobile linked to Aadhar ad later employer will receive a pop-up and will approve it using DSC.
KYC seeded will be invalidated automatically if not approved digitally by the employer within 60 days.
Other Advance Issues & Solutions:
- In some of the cases, members details such as Name, Father Name Gender, DOB (DD/MM/YYYY) are not matching with the details already updated in the EPFO portal in that case employee should get it corrected at UIDAI or in the EPFO records through Basic details change functionality.
- If the employee forgets the member portal's password, he can use the forgot password tab to get a new password.
- If the employee forgets the member portal password and, if he has also updated his Aadhar (Change in Name/ DOB/ Mobile etc) in such cases the employee has to submit a Joint declaration enclosing the updated Aadhar and after correction by EPFO authorities again employee can use the forgot password tab to get a new password.
