Secrets of the Universe

Secrets of the Universe

"Let your accomplishments pave the way for new beginnings. Your actions will impress onlookers and help position you for bigger and better opportunities. Listen, learn and forge ahead." - Metro Horoscope

I've dreamt for many years about being on stage, captivating audiences, changing lives, having a career that I loved... but I was so impatient and my dream felt so big that it was almost unattainable.

I ended up taking Social Media courses through SMMU, which I loved. I was able to get immediate gratification - learning each platform, meeting people, putting myself out there - - it was awesome! But I was always stuck because I didn't have a niche. I was always warned, "Don't contribute to the noise of the internet!" It was TERRIFYING, like that house you avoided at the end of the block when you were a kid - the one with the unkempt lawn a occasional stray cat. I got so caught up in choosing the right one, that I never chose one at all. It haunted me for months.

Then one day, something in me just clicked. I found myself unable to think about anything else but community service. I missed my work with The Movement when I would travel and see pain and suffering but become part of the solution. Seriously - the gnawing of needing to help people was so consuming that I even looked at positions within the Peace Corps!

There it was - there was my niche. I decided my mission in life was to fight for those in need of a voice. I vowed to serve my community by working with government and state agencies, as well as public and private non-profits to assist individuals and groups to reclaim their lives through branding and coaching.

It's funny how the world works - when you tell the universe the direction you want to go, opportunities get sent to you. Within days, "the right people" were inviting me to connect on LinkedIn, and I was getting small offers here and there *that aligned with my mission* - and I took every opportunity.

All the tiny little tasks and accomplishments added up - and people started to notice. Even if I was scared out of my mind or only had a vague idea what I was doing, I put myself out there and was honest about my abilities. People respond positively when you are honest - they almost don't even care what it is you are saying as long as they know it's the truth. Apparently, that's hard to come by!

Take the plunge - that big leap of faith. Kick fear right in the teeth Bruce Lee-style with no remorse. Channel your inner light because a dream will always remain a dream until your actions make it your goal. I promise - the universe will provide!
