In order to stand out and appear more professional during screen sharing, your browser should be unique and special.
As a follow-up to the first article about browser profiles, tip #2 addresses sharing your screen and presenting from your browser.
Tip #2 Tl;dr - Clean your new tab window. Group tabs with unique colors and names. Change the bookmarks names in the bookmarks bar.
Cleaner shortcuts
We will begin by cleaning up your new tab page. Most browsers remember the most frequently visited sites by default and display them as shortcuts in New Tab. There are some browsers that have shortcuts to their own websites which we would like to clean.
The New Tab page can save you time by displaying only the most useful links/shortcuts you need rather than all the ones you don't need.
Before
After
Adding/removing shortcuts and cleaning your browser is easy with this guide. It is possible to take it to the extreme with dedicated extensions such as clean tab.
Grouping tabs
Before sharing your screen during an important presentation or product demo, I always recommend opening the tabs / use cases you plan to demonstrate. If you open them live, the system might be slow or the data might take some time to load. After opening them, sort them by specific use cases or stories in grouped tabs and give each tab a different color with a unique label.
Changing the bookmarks names
By default, new bookmarks will be added to the bookmarks bar with their site name. It is recommended to edit their names and add special icons.
What are your suggestions for a more organized and professional browser? I would appreciate hearing from you.
