We’re surrounded by the coverage of break-ups, love rats and discontented relationships thanks to the media and the commercialism of love and marriage. It’s easy to understand how someone could lose faith in the entire idea of eternal love altogether. Don’t lose all hope, click the button below to check out our latest article to find out why true love does still exist and it could happen to you.

A relationship is metaphorically like a house, you need to get the groundworks right for a strong, long-lasting home, build it on bad foundations however and the cracks will soon show.

The Best Thing You Can Give Someone, Second To Time. Trust is a biggie for many people, especially those that have had their trust broken in the past. Each time you begin a relationship, however, you must start afresh emotionally. Don’t compare your new partner with the old one that’s done you wrong, they’re two completely different people with different morals. You owe it to your partner to instil full trust in them and vice versa, should you ever want it to work out 100% faith in them is a must.

For Better, For Worse. Happy couples share a mutual respect and aren’t judgmental of each other no matter what the other does or says. Put yourself in their shoes at all times and imagine how they must be feeling in all scenarios. No matter what they want to do, give them full support and be there for them, as they should do for you no matter your own endeavors. Problems small or large, this is how a long-lasting couple gets through the ups and downs of life together and come out the other end with a bond that is even stronger than ever.

Selfless..Not Self-Serving. Don’t be manipulative with your partner, at all costs. Head games and acting superior to them for your own personal gain are not things a loving partner would ever want to do to their other half. This is a destructive trait that will eat away at your relationship, as distrust and resentment between the two of you will soon form. Neither one of you is better than the other, you’re two different people but also a life-long partnership so act like it.

You Get Out What You Put In. Ultimately, the best relationships take a lot of hard graft. So think back to when you first got together, the seemingly trivial yet sentimental things that you have done for one another and time you set aside to spend together should still be done no matter what. Sure, kids and other responsibilities will get in the way at times but make the time for each other if you value the relationship enough.

True love is definitely not dead. Everyone is capable of it, yet not many people know how to create the ingredients needed. Or maybe they do deep down, but their outlook and way of thinking does not let them, this could be down to a variance of reasons such as being hurt in the past, upbringing or their own insecurity. Either way, if you want real love, it’s a leap of faith, long-term commitment and way of life all rolled into one. It’s more than the shiny, superficial stories you see in movies and requires hard work and dedication, think you’re up to the task?
