Who runs the show? BIG DATA or BIG MAMA? Do you run your data or does your data run you? Just because you're seating in the driver seat doesn't mean you're running the show! Next time you get in the driver seat, ask yourself "What kind of data is my car collecting on me?" If you think that your car only runs on gas, think again! It runs on your data, if not thrives on it.
So now you're curious, "What kind of data does my car collect on me?" Well! that's why we're here, isn't it? Let me tell you then! First of all, your car is like a smartphone on wheels connected to over 200 different sensors. Your car knows your locations, OBVIOUSLY! but I'm telling you, all your precise locations and it can all be tracked. This one may come as a shock to you, but your car also knows when you're sleepy behind the wheel. Your car knows your voice and some cars even store your audio recordings in their memory. Your car logs all your calls, contacts, emails, and addresses. Your car knows the kind of the music you listen to while driving. Your car knows your speed limit- this one is obvious too.
So then, would you say "Data is the enemy?". If not, who or what is the real enemy? The information collected by your car is used to improve safety, send you service alerts that are much more helpful than a check-engine light in the dash. There are so many benefits we gain from the data collected by our car. I will save you the trouble of listing all the wonderful benefits because the list is long and probably unending.
So then, I ask again, Who then is the enemy? I would like to argue that data is far from the enemy, instead privacy is the enemy! Are there solid regulations governing automobile data collection?
I'll let you tap into your curiosity and research further. Here's a link to an article regarding this subject; https://news.bloomberglaw.com/privacy-and-data-security/carmakers-selling-your-data-risk-collisions-with-privacy-laws
