The Secret Weapon of Leaders: Mindset

The Secret Weapon of Leaders: Mindset

Last month, We hosted our friend and co-founder of BETTER, Kevin DeShazo , for the Multiply Leader Collective Webinar. He delivered a powerful training on Multiplying Your Mindset. The ideas that follow here were inspired by our time together. You can register for our upcoming, June 20th, Multiply Leader Collective Webinar here.

In today's dynamic business landscape, leadership requires more than a sharpened skillset. It demands a deep understanding of oneself and the power of mindset. Our internal narrative – the way we think about ourselves and the world – directly influences our behavior, attitude, resilience, and ultimately, the success of our teams.

"Most of the time, the thing holding you back is you." - Kevin Deshazo

The good news? Mindset isn't a fixed state. It's a malleable muscle that can be strengthened and reshaped through conscious effort. Here's how leaders can leverage the power of mindset transformation:

1. Awareness is Key: Unveiling Your Inner Dialogue

The first step to any transformative journey is self-awareness. Leaders must become acutely aware of their thought tendencies and patterns. Do negativity and self-doubt dominate them? Or do they fuel optimism and a growth mindset? Using tools like the one below can be powerful for uncovering these thought patterns.

2. Reframing the Narrative: Choosing Positivity

Our thoughts have a profound impact on our actions. When faced with a challenge, a leader with a negative mindset might see it as an insurmountable obstacle. Conversely, a leader with a positive mindset sees it as an opportunity for growth. The key? Actively reframing negative thoughts and consciously choosing a more positive perspective.

"Our job is not to change other people. Our job is to change ourselves and invite other people on that journey."

3. Information Detox: Curating Your Input

The information we consume significantly shapes our mindset. Leaders must be mindful of the media and social media they engage with. Is it filled with negativity and criticism, or does it inspire and uplift? Curating a positive information diet by following inspiring leaders, motivational speakers, and industry thought leaders can significantly boost your outlook. I've been listening to a book called 10x is Easier than 2x. The first chapter and illustration of Michaelangelo is worth the price of the book.

4. Patience is the Path: Neuroplasticity Takes Time

Transforming your mindset is a journey, not a destination. It takes consistent effort and unwavering patience. The good news is that the brain is remarkably adaptable. Neuroplasticity, the brain's ability to rewire itself, allows us to create new neural pathways through positive thoughts and experiences. Be kind to yourself – change takes time.

5. Gratitude and Affirmations: Shaping Your Mindset Daily

Gratitude and self-affirmations are powerful tools for rewiring your neural pathways. Regularly practicing gratitude for your blessings and affirming positive beliefs about yourself can significantly impact your mindset. Start your day by writing down three things you're grateful for and repeating a positive affirmation. One affirmation I practice daily is: "In Christ, I am liberated and by His grace, I am a liberator for others, fighting for their highest possible good."

Leading from the Inside Out: The Power of Mindset Transformation

By transforming your mindset, you become a more effective leader. You inspire your team with optimism, foster a positive work environment, and navigate challenges with resilience. Remember, leadership starts from within. By taking control of your inner narrative, you unlock the power to achieve remarkable things, both for yourself and your team.

Mindset is a weapon worth using, daily.

Here is the conversation our team had with Kevin. I believe you will enjoy it and be empowered by it. If you would like to tune into our next Multiply Leader Collective Webinar, on June 20th, register here.

Absolutely, well put quote! "Our job is not to change other people. Our job is to change ourselves and invite other people on that journey." — Kevin DeShazo ?? Hits home! And yes, mindset is the weapon to keep the mental discipline to always look for ways to improve upon our yesterday self to today. Nothing to change in others as each of us represent only who we are, at all times. It’s a snapshot of one’s own mind that one can speak from. A focused vision remains consistent, only the methods need to be flexible. ???? Let’s keep the good journey on! Whoever is in the similar thought structure will join voluntarily! I thoroughly enjoyed reading a well written article and all the 5 points encapsulate the essence of sound abundance/growth mindset. Here’s to the forever learners of life! Thank you for sharing!
