Is There a Secret to Success?
I get asked all the time "what’s the secret to success?" I think any successful person will tell you that no, there’s no secret. It’s a new year, and this week I wanted to cover some of the proven methods you can employee to grow your business, advance in your career, and accelerate achievement. When it comes down to it, success only comes when you put in the work. There are no hacks or shortcuts to achieving meaningful success. Success takes time and effort, but you have to be expending your energy in the right places. ?Here’s where I believe that energy should go for me, personally; and I believe that it’s applicable for everyone:
Have a Clear Vision
Sometimes, people talk about success as this broad, general concept; but your definition of success is going to be specific to you. So, the first step is to define what success means (or will mean) for you, personally. In many ways, success is linked to your vision. What kind of business, career, and professional life do you want to create? The more specific you get with your vision the better. There should be some flexibility in your vision, as it will almost certainly evolve over time; but highlighting what it looks like for you now will give you a solid foundation to build on.
Be Committed
Everyone knows that doesn’t come overnight. ?This is why being committed is so important. Defining your goals and maintaining your commitment to them will move you forward faster. That commitment drives us to put in the work, day after day — whether we feel like it or not. While it’s essential to pinpoint where it is you want to go, the only way you’re going to get there is through daily effort. This commitment will motivate you to continue putting in the work, even when progress feels slow.
Think About the Long Game
When you think about success, it should be the kind of success that lasts. The goal should be to build a sustainable business that succeeds in the long-term. ?If you’re working yourself to exhaustion, it’s not likely you’ll be able to keep that up for very long. Be proactive in your pursuit of success. Find a pace that will allow you to put in regular effort towards your goals without pushing yourself to the point of burnout.
?
What would you say if someone asked you for the secret to success? To me, there is no such thing. Though it might be nice for there to be one piece of advice to crack the puzzle, success rarely (if ever) works that way. Consistent effort over time towards our goals is most often the formula that will get us there. ?I wrote recently about how we can achieve our full potential, and I think that’s a good companion piece to this article. You can find that here .

Good luck and let me know how any of these tips may have helped you!
