The Secret to Scaling Your Brand The Right Way...

The Secret to Scaling Your Brand The Right Way...

When I started my Digital Marketing journey, I thought I could take any brand, product, business, you name it, and scale it as long as I worked hard. I thought if I made an awesome ad, with a great piece of copy, terrific media, and the right settings, it was like free money! Makes sense right?

Absolutely not.

After the first week of launching my own dropshipped water bottle brand, I spent a couple hundred dollars, followed all the tutorials I could find, and not a single sale to show for it. What I didn't realize at the time, was that this failure would be the kickstart to an incredible journey of hardships and experiences.

At the time I was in grad school for chemical engineering and data science, and I didn't have a dollar to my name (I was in debt actually), so failure at the expense of my bank account was not an option.

Instead of being swallowed by defeat, after a couple days of self-pitying, I rose to the challenge and worked harder than I ever had before. I learned and learned and learned from everything I could find, as if I were legitimately getting a degree in digital marketing and advertising.

A couple years later, I run a successful digital marketing agency that has helped scale numerous brands and businesses to multiple 6 & 7 figures using a variety of digital marketing techniques and strategies. Throughout this journey, I've jotted down scattered thoughts and ideas on countless sticky notes, napkins, and random Google docs. I decided to aggregate them into what I feel are some of the most important parts to consider.

The Business

The fact is: not every business is scalable.

It can be a hard pill to swallow, but it's true. This doesn't mean it will always be an "un-scalable" business, it just may not be ready yet.

The most frustrating thing I see is when an agency or freelancer that only offers a single service tells a business owner that their service is exactly what the business needs to grow some absurd amount, all without ever even looking at the client's business.

What I have found to be the most important principle behind the success of my agency is:

  • Every business is UNIQUE.

No two businesses can be treated in the exact same way, and that is a fact. Instead, we take a deeper look at the business from the ground up, and in turn we gain a deeper and more elaborate understanding. This allows us to not only more effectively scale the brand, but also more efficiently scale the brand.

What do I mean by this?

I've seen brands paying agencies thousands of dollars a month to get terrible ROIs, and I'm talking as bad as $3500 a month to get 0 sales. Yes, you read that right!

The brand actually had a conversion rate of less than 0.1%, but the agency they worked with didn't even consider it! Instead, they told the brand they were a "great fit" and proceeded with their lackluster Facebook ads.

Organic Optimization

We actually took at the brand mentioned above, and what was the first thing we did? Conversion Rate Optimization (CRO). The brand was getting a little over 4,000 visitors a month, but only getting less than 5 of those visitors to make a purchase.

Within a month of working with our agency, we took the brand from making under $1,500 a month (not including the losses on advertising) to making over $15,000. Lifechanging results just from capitalizing on the traffic already going to the brand's website.

Organic optimization can be pivotal to a brand's success and it plays a roll in every part of the brand's growth. Strategies like Search Engine Optimization can increase your monthly traffic by thousands and tens of thousands! Paired with a high conversion rate, you can drastically increase the number of sales being made without spending a dollar on ads.

At my agency we offer a few services that we have found to be the most impactful organic methods of digital marketing. These services include SEO, CRO, email marketing, and social media management. Consider what the current standing of these are in your business as they could have a huge impact on your growth!

Paid Advertising

You're already making incredible sales organically, why consider paid ads? While organic optimizations and marketing methods are vital to success, paid advertising is what can truly transform a good business into a great business, and a great business into an industry leader.

What makes paid advertising so difficult is that it requires a vast amount of knowledge of both the business itself, and of advertising in general. There a variety of different paid advertising methods that can be used, all with their strengths and weaknesses, as well as their own unique strategies for success. At my agency we provide paid advertising services for the big social media platforms like Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, LinkedIn, and YouTube, in addition to our Google ads and Google Shopping ads services.

Finding the balance between a variety of platforms where your demographic audience is most prominent always proves to be most effective. I won't be covering HOW to run ads, but I am happy to write more about this in another article.

Connecting All the Dots

What makes our agency stand out from the rest is that we understand that a business shouldn't have to put all their eggs in one basket to see results. That ideology is just asking for failure. We refuse to allow our clients to be a new update or platform change away from halted sales and failure.

Instead we focus on adding value to our client's businesses "omni-directionally". We focus on growing your brand using a multitude of digital marketing efforts to ensure stable, reliable, and diversified growth.

The most exciting part about this? When these services are used correctly, they can all leverage one another making your entire digital marketing effort that much more powerful. This strategy can truly transform a business from a hobby to a goliath in its industry.

Accountability

Some of you may simply be trying to start your own brand so this won't directly apply to you, but at the very least, I recommend reading this as advice to consider in the future. As someone who has both failed and succeeded in running an e-commerce brand AND a digital marketing agency, I can safely say that if I were to partner with an agency now, I would pick a performance based agency 10/10 times.

After considerable testing and research, my agency pledges the confidence of our ability to add value to your business in our Performance Based Payment System. What does that mean?

Loosely translated, it means we can only make a lot of money if we make our clients A LOT of money. If there are parts of your business that need to be outsourced to an agency or a freelance, I STRONGLY RECOMMEND exploring performance based payment methods.

This is because no one cares about your business as much as you. The best way to combat this statement is by giving others a reason to care about your business as much as you do.

Final Words

While digital marketing can be an overwhelming part of your business, it doesn't have to be inapproachable, and it is undoubtedly one of most important factors in growing a business. By taking things one step at a time, breaking down where your business' biggest weaknesses are, and staying consistent, anything is possible!
