Secret Sauce

Secret Sauce

We have all heard about the word secret sauce, haven’t we? And it is the most guarded top secret of many successful people. People do not like to share it, lest someone may copy them or use it to benefit themselves or become more successful and create competition for them (the one who shared the secret sauce). And who likes competition which may bring them to a no. 2 place. Oops!!! Not a place most successful people want to be.

Even, I had these limiting thoughts till few years ago, when I would guard my secret sauce viciously. In my own limited way, I considered myself successful and developed arrogance which stopped me from sharing my secret sauce with anyone. Till one day one of my team members asked me, “Kiran, would you like to share your secret sauce?” I was taken by surprise and heard a loud clutter in my mind – don’t, don’t don’t, just HIDE.

But I did not hide and gathered courage to say it. I said, “My secret sauce is all about sharing my learnings, experiences and knowledge with others. And as I love to share, I love to listen too. With every active conversation I learn something new which keeps on adding to my being.”

While I said those words and the cat was in the open, I felt a huge weight on my chest. Weight of not being able to walk the talk. I didn’t want to fail in the eyes of my team member. For once I felt, did I lie, and if it was not a lie why this huge weight on my chest. Sharing my secret sauce made me vulnerable and wanting to HIDE again. Once, again I gathered courage and did not hide. I faced the truth, I faced my secret sauce, I needed to make it true for myself and others.

Today, my secret sauce has slightly transformed I share, I learn; I learn, I share more.

Share your secret sauce and experience it growing and slowly transforming into something better than from where it began. Have a sharing week ahead.
