Would it interest you to discover that activating certain reflexes improves the function of specific muscles? See our recent posts for reflexes that generally affect the lower body and the chest & shoulders. Activate those for yourself.
IF you activate those we have shared with firm but not painful pressure for 20-30 seconds each... you should notice greater ability to use those muscles for work. Do them before the activity and it will be easier to perform. Do these afterwards and feel less soreness. It's come in handy with the unusual snow-shovelling activity I've been doing recently. The snow was very wet and heavy for our first snowfall, and then there was a mountain of lighter stuff to move a few days later. I made sure to activate these reflexes as soon as I got inside and I noticed the next morning that I had no soreness arising from this unusual activity. In the past I would lament that the shovelling had revealed some muscles 'I had forgotten I owned'.
At a conference, I met someone who trains Ironman athletes and she teaches them many of our techniques such as rubbing certain of these reflexes. During training and on race day, they perform these activities during their warm ups, during the race, and after the race so they are able to give their best performance and recover faster. If it works for them... don't you wonder if it might not help you too?
In the meantime, we're sharing the image that accompanies this article in case you feel adventurous. We wonder what you will notice when you spend about 10-15 minutes activating all of these on yourself... hint, hint... involve a partner so they can help with the ones on the back. Remember to return the favour!
