By my second year at Collins College of Business, I was ready to get out into the real world after 14 years of education with your life determined by arbitrary tests.
The complex Lotus 1-2-3 program I had written was taking FOREVER to load and I was about to breakdown. Everything worked flawlessly on my XT PC at home.
There was some awkward small talk where I said I had just come from my 20 hours weekly work-study job being on half scholarship.
Professor Payne studied the 20 pages of code and surprisingly asked "Would you be interested in a paid internship?"
"What do I need to do?" I said to stunned to simply say YES. The program finally loaded and after testing a few functions, Dr. Payne broke out into the code and pointed out this was an older version of Lotus.
That moment changed my life and drove home how checking requirements determined everything.
You put a deadline on the calendar. Write a list of what's required. Then document as you go feeling the exhilaration of doing.
Daily Mission:?Quickly check your requirements and get to work.
