The Secret To Overcoming Trauma

The Secret To Overcoming Trauma

Let's talk about trauma in childhood!

It's estimated that 60% of people suffer some kind of abuse or trauma in their childhood but I personally think that it's a much underrepresented ill and blight that society is unwilling to talk about, yet.

Childhood trauma is like a nuclear explosion for the internal world of the individual to manoeuvre through. The potential of that child before the trauma damages their ability to realise and live a 'normal' life.

It's not impossible though.

But the trauma has to be processed and the sad fact is that many people are not willing to process it because it is hard and emotionally gruelling.

The waves of emotions that emerge from within are far too often ignored, pushed away and rejected which forces them underground into the unconscious which then in turn often ends up sabotaging people in their careers, romantic lives and general enjoyment of being human.

Whether you experienced trauma through abuse, neglect, loss, emotional harm or some form of accident or natural disaster, you absolutely can heal your emotional and traumatic wounds!

For years, I played the game of using drugs, gaming, unfulfilling romantic adventures, drinking, gambling....... until I had enough and braved the reality and faced what I couldn't ignore any longer.

A key factor was when I got very curious and interested in self-knowledge. I started learning about psychology and got myself into therapy.

Another was getting honest with myself. Denial is a big aftereffect of trauma along with many others such as anxiety, depression, dissociation, fatigue, insomnia etc....

Facing and accepting your trauma doesn't mean that you are weak. This was a big learning for me and I think males struggle with this a lot. I view looking at your mental health as incredibly brave undertaking. So few do and we personally along with society suffer as a result.

If any of this resonates or you have noticed something speaking to your experience, feel free to reach out or reach out to someone!

It saved my life and made it a million times better!

Talking works and understanding yourself better is the result.
