Visual art has a unique and amazing appeal that most people enjoy, particularly when crafted by individuals they know. By fostering a workplace culture that encourages the display of employee artwork, which is themed around safety and security, your workforce is likely to view it, contemplate the messaging, and apply it proactively. This, in turn, will result in implementing workplace safety and security best practices, leading to a safer workplace for all - an aspiration shared by every organization.
Thus, companies should establish a program that grants their artists creative freedom to produce and showcase safety and security-themed art projects to promote safety and security awareness and best practices to safeguard the workforce better.
Calling all Artists!?
Every company has hidden artistic talent within its workforce. By simply sending out an email requesting any resident artists to step forward, you may be surprised by the artistic talent in front of you. Artists generally love working on art projects and showcasing their work. This characteristic can be leveraged intelligently when building a company-wide safety and security awareness program.
You'll be able to enlist the help of your company's resident artists to create art projects that represent the safety and security awareness topics you want to convey. Once the employee art projects are complete, you can showcase their safety and security artwork throughout the company, on physical walls or virtually on employees' computer screens. By sharing this safety and security awareness artwork in a weekly email or Slack posting, all employees can appreciate and learn from it in an uplifting way. By encouraging creativity and collaboration, you can create a safety and security awareness culture ingrained in your company's values and culture.
The Security Awareness Art Project Design
If you wish to initiate an artistic safety and security awareness program at your company, here are the steps you need to take:?
Step 1: Develop a list of safety and security awareness topics that you want your employees to understand and put into practice.
Step 2: Send a company-wide email inviting all employee artists to participate in the security awareness art program. Ask them to choose one or two of the safety and security awareness topics and to create a piece of art that conveys the central message of that topic. To support their creativity, provide each artist with a $25.00 stipend to cover any expenses they may incur for art materials.
Step 3: Once all the safety and security awareness art pieces have been collected, have your Workplace Team select the best art pieces to be displayed physically on the walls of your company or digitized and sent out to all employees in a weekly email or Slack posting.
Step 4: Always respect the artist's request to remove their artwork from the program. If an artist leaves the company, return their art to them and delete any digital images of their artwork.
To keep the program fresh, repeat it once a quarter. If there are too many artists who want to participate, you can always put a cap on the number of artists allowed in the program each quarter.

1 年This is great, Adam. When I run innovation workshops I've seen what happens when participants unleash their creative selves. Sketching and visualizing ideas can be scary for many, but it is NOT about art. It's about being able to convey a message in a material form. Such a powerful tool. Keep it up.
