The SECRET to HAPPINESS in Business & Life...

DO YOU CONSIDER YOURSELF HAPPY?

How would you answer??

A Dear Friend just asked this question and here was my response... What is your response??

My answer to the question, "DO YOU CONSIDER YOURSELF HAPPY?"

Yes, I do consider myself happy for the most part. Not Disneyland overly content for others to see, it is more like a feeling I own. I do love visiting the Magic Kingdom, I am just using the example...

I have had ups and downs in life; yet for the most part I live in a peaceful and happy state.

Unlike young children who still own their happiness and embrace all their emotions... Many adults often say out loud, "I will be happy when x,y,z happens in my business or personal life." When I get the job, or open another office, when I buy the house, find the lover, the cash or whatever... Yet they are miserable in the chase of the ever expanding future because as soon as that one thing happens they find another thing that will make them happier. Many are holding out for that better happiness, the greener grass and most of the time they suffer in that waiting. As they envision that big day when FINALLY they can just be content, life is passing them by!

I work and play full out each day and spend much of my time finding gratitude in my present moments. Years ago I decided that my happiness is independent of the good opinion of others and not attached to outside situations. That was when I was truly able to own my happiness; no matter what is going on or not going on around me. I feel I am overall happier than many people I know who have not discovered this freedom. For me this personal responsibility for my own happiness is the key to my ability to pick myself up by my bootstraps and keep going.

I lost my youngest son on Dec. 21, 2019 to a heart condition and I confess there are days and moments that I STILL get a reminder, a feather, a photo, a memory and some grieving time shows up. I embrace those emotions and honor those times as well. I believe that is part of my personal grief recovery journey; everyone processes a loss differently.

All in all, each day, even on the days when I have a memory or holiday that triggers me into a good healing cry: I also find that in that SAME day I am also able to laugh and smile to contribute in some way to others in my community and to be able to still connect with family and friends. I don't get stuck in the emotions I just let them flow in, thank them, then let them flow out.

Each night, I go to bed and I am grateful each day for my wildly imperfect beautiful authentic and very happy life.

If you feel inspired to share: What is your answer to the question: DO YOU CONSIDER YOURSELF HAPPY?

As always. I wish you,
