Secret dreams of high achievers

Many high powered, successful women I speak with deny they have much success at all.
Yet I believe they’d ALL agree to these descriptions of themselves:
“Perfectionist”
“Go getter”
“Goal driven”
Over conversations with these women, they share some of their biggest dreams.
What do you think high achieving, working moms dream about?
A bigger portfolio?
A gorgeous, oceanside mansion?
A staff to take care of all the “details” in life? (ie. buying and wrapping gifts, scheduling car pool for the kids)?
This isn’t what they dream about at all.
After talking to these women about their dreams for over a decade now, here’s a typical response from “Every Woman”:
“I have this recurring dream and it involves freezing time.
In my dream, time freezes and everything stands still. It feels so good that I bought myself time, in my dream.
In my 20’s I used to dream I could get more done when time froze. When everything was at a stand still, I could finally finish all the tasks that were undone and I could tackle my long to-do list.
And now that I’m in my 30’s, my dream shifted. I still dream of a time where everything stands still… but, I now dream about getting more sleep!
Now, I can never seem to catch a breath. And, even on the rare occasion when I do actually get 8 hours of sleep…. I’m not refreshed. When I wake up I’m still drained.“
Today’s working mom is time starved and sleep deprived.
So much so, her dreams of having it all have morphed into just getting more sleep!
Let that sink in.
Solid women, who have passion, drive and the skills to shake things up and change the world just want to lay down and take a nap!
This makes my blood boil.

Why? Because young women, as smart as they are, are still buying into the myth that I once believed.
Here’s what I believed 40 years ago:
I believed that if I worked hard, gave it my all and put others first, that I’d have a “good life”.
Yeah… we’ve come a long way, for sure.
Still, as far as we’ve come as working women,
our approach to life hasn’t changed enough to save us from ourselves.
You and I need to fix that now with a reality check.
Pay attention here:
No matter how busy, stressed out, wealthy, and successful you are…
NO ONE CAN FIX YOUR SCHEDULE BUT YOU.
If you find yourself daydreaming about sleep, like so many other women, I’ve got two things to offer you.
First, for the DIY’ers: The key for you is in establishing your Morning Ritual and Evening Ritual. Schedule 5 minutes in the morning for envisioning and planning your day. And schedule 5 minutes in the evening to assess and adjust your day going forward. Make these two meetings with yourself non-negotiable and you’ll soon see the payoffs.
Next, for those who want to “Fast Track” and guarantee results: The key for you is in establishing your Morning Ritual and Evening Ritual, too.
And, because you want assurances your finite resources will get you where you want to be, you need to work with an experienced coach who understands where you’ve been and has a system that works with the demands of current hustle culture.
I have created a program just for you, Time/Energy Optimization. During this highly customized, private coaching experience with me, you’ll talk with me (over the phone or Zoom) six times to receive practical tools, tactical structures and on demand support that will double your energy levels and give you the time freedom you crave. That’s a promise.
No matter if you’re a “DIYer” or a “Fast Tracker”, my hope for you is threefold:
I’m rooting for you!
Let’s stop dreaming about sleep, and claim the restorative rest we need so that we can actually live the life we were designed for!!!
Hugs to you,
Lisa
P.S. For your Fast Trackers… here’s a link to my schedule, so we talk about Time/Energy Optimization.

6 个月Oh Lisa Bobyak this is something that is hugely needed! I sometimes still find myself wanting a nap, but getting those morning and evening rituals changed massively the quality of my days! Of course, there are days when your kids need you at night or other things happen and you feel tired - having the tools to mitigate the impact of it is key. Love that you are raising awareness around it, Lisa!

6 个月Lisa many of us grew up with parents that drilled in the belief that if we WORKED HARD we would somehow be successful and happy. In retrospect learning to change those beliefs in your 20's & 30's will lead to more success in your 40's & beyond - would you agree?
