The Secret To Building An Exceptional Business

The Secret To Building An Exceptional Business

The ReWild Group’s mission is to multiply the number of exceptional businesses globally, and as one of their international advisors, I help grow exceptional businesses through Organizational ReWilding, which is a methodology that identifies and infuses missing key elements into a company’s ecosystem in order to create high-functioning, highly profitable organizations.

What are the elements of an Exceptional Business?

Just as there are key elements that make up a healthy natural ecosystem, there are 11 key elements that make up an exceptional business. The radial size of the element indicates the relative importance of that element to the business. Within the methodology, each element corresponds to a structured engagement that strengthens that particular area of your business.

How are Key Elements infused into a business?

Firstly, the Key Elements to be infused into a business are identified and prioritzed through a comprehensive business assessment. The Key Elements are then infused into the business using the ReWilding Process below.

The elements are infused through structured engagements using the ReWild Learning System. The system first introduces key concepts and common language to the business using Knowledge Transfer Videos. This is followed-up with Hands-on Activities to learn how to practically apply the knowledge, which is then practically applied to the business through Real World Applications.

The benefit of infusing an element at a time, is that the business starts to see the benefit of that element within weeks, even though the entire process of infusing several key elements, may take several months or even years.

Building an exceptional business does not happen overnight and can be very complicated, but Organizational ReWilding helps apply a broad yet structured methodology to the business, through a simple process to yield the desired results.

What's the secret behind each of the Key Element engagements?

The Brand & Core Values engagement helps identify values that everyone in the organization can relate to and align with. Core Values represent the internal values a company holds, while Brand Values represent the external values presented to the public as the company’s brand. These values are the most important catalyst in an organization. They form the cornerstone for everything that a company does and accomplishes. Common values are what holds a diverse workforce together to accomplish the extraordinary. The values must be clearly defined to guide how people behave toward each other within the organization and direct how the organization interacts with its customers.

The Business Development Structure engagement facilitates critical thinking and produces common language and unifying processes for the revenue-generating functions of the organization.?Key principles for effective Marketing, Sales, and Customer Service are infused into the organization to create repeatable, scalable methods that fuel consistent revenue generation. With this framework, the organization sees improved structure, clarity, and focus.?

The Business Growth Framework engagement teaches a comprehensive business growth methodology to a company’s management team. Instead of a CEO carrying the burden of growth alone, the common framework allows the entire management team to work with the CEO on important business strategies and initiatives. The goals of this engagement are to help an organization understand a growth framework, create consensus on the organization’s current state, identify misalignments, and prioritize alignment initiatives.

The Business Model engagement stimulates the critical thinking needed to properly architect a business. It covers the fundamental strategic areas of the business – value, customer, revenue/profit and structure.?The Analysis Tool captures the leadership’s assumptions and decisions, while facilitating the understanding of how alternative assumptions impact the business’s performance.?The Business Model provides a framework to periodically assess the business’s design and adjust to the new realities as the business grows.

The Interdepartmental Planning engagement consists of a structured method of categorizing priorities across all departments, capturing prioritization from multiple perspectives, and facilitating the identification of shared organizational priorities.?The team learns how to use a quarterly “planning scrub” to keep the entire Management Team on the same page and working on what is truly important for the organization.

The Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) engagement provides the principles, critical thinking and tools needed to implement effective performance metric tracking for an organization. KPIs are metrics that are markers for the overall health and advancement of a company.?Positive performance on KPIs leads to higher profitability. KPIs bring greater focus to the work being performed and the staff doing the work.?Tracking and reporting of these metrics influences the teams’ behavior and performance.?

The Master Processes engagement facilitates the identification of key processes and systems that are lacking in the organization through surveys, hands-on activities, and group discussions. This engagement helps address challenges with destabilizing chaos, poor staff training, weak project management, and a high cost of lost expertise.

The Meeting Structure engagement provides a framework for developing consistent meeting structures across an organization to ensure meetings are effective. During the engagement, the client’s team works to develop organization-specific meeting templates that define a meeting’s purpose, outcomes, format, and expected participation. Active testing of the meeting models over a period of time helps refine the models to ensure the company has productive meetings going forward.

The One-to-One Process engagement establishes a process to provide a regular feedback loop between supervisor and employee that promotes proactive inquiry, creates personal accountability, and builds a bond of trust. It is one of the foundational structures needed to create a high functioning company. Structured and consistent communication between supervisors and employees fosters trust and provides opportunity to grow and nurture the staff.

The Organizational Structure engagement brings order to the work — independent of people. The lack of structure within a business is a major contributor to organizational chaos, disengaged employees, high turnover, and a culture resistant to change. Proper organizational structure provides greater resilience to successfully weather the constant change confronted in a business, creating a resilient, long-lasting organization that can withstand change in staff and future growth.

The Strong Management Team engagement is a unique program spanning a 12-month period.?Each class of the Exceptional Manager Program is specifically designed to engage the management team through insightful online content and hands-on classroom activities, to instill the necessary mindset and skills managers need to create high levels of value for the organization and the strong back bone of an exceptional company.
