The Secret To Being A Successful Entrepreneur

The Secret To Being A Successful Entrepreneur

Entrepreneurship, like life, is full of surprises.

The good news is, while there’s a lot we can’t control, there’s still plenty we can decide and manage ourselves.?

When I started out as a corporate chef, I dreamed of opening a restaurant and making it big. But instead of a smooth ride, I found myself tangled up in the complexities of running a business.

It was in this challenging world that I learned some key lessons… lessons that I think can really help anyone on their own entrepreneurial journey.

?? 1: Embrace the Unpredictable

I never planned to be an entrepreneur. It began in the kitchen, slaving away long hours as a chef. I grew up in a home where the usual professions were doctor, lawyer, and business was never even considered. Yet, something inside me longed for more freedom to make my own choices and create the life I desired.

Weirdly enough, my pivot happened when I saw someone who used to be a writer with me see an incredible rise… out of the culinary world. He was living a life that I had once thought impossible, and it made me second guess everything.

Why am I busting my butt for so little?

How come I was stuck in a system that did not free me in a similar way?

So, I took a risk. Just quit my job and entered the wilderness to try something completely new. Trust me… that was no small accomplishment. There was doubt, and there were tough times with fear. But that is how life surprised me and where I ended up being now, having been successful in business before the majority of my friends, enjoying the freedom which until a few years ago was only a dream.

The Takeaway: Do not shy away from the road less traveled. The best journey takes you where YOU never intended to go.

?? 2: Grit Over Glamour

All of this talk about following your passion, and while I'm all for passion in life as far as it goes… and it's important… that's not the whole story.

So when I stopped cooking and started selling, it wasn't because sales was my calling. In fact, I hated it at first. Although what drove me was the dream of financial freedom and time control.

Sales was not what I expected, and it took me a while to really love doing sales. But I continued on because it was a way to an end. I grinded and got comfortable with being uncomfortable, and gradually I saw those results.

It was then that I had the most necessary epiphany:

It is not about falling in love with every phase of your journey. It comes down to perseverance and not giving up even when things get hard.

?? 3: Never Stop Learning

Well, entrepreneurship is a roller coaster. Let me elaborate before the entrepreneur incubators kill themselves!?

It’s a journey, and the only way to stay on top of it is through learning. I made a huge number of mistakes when I first started with e-commerce. Over the years, I have lost money, made bad decisions, and encountered many roadblocks. But I didn’t give up. What I did do, however, was find mentors wherever possible and spend every waking hour studying my craft while learning about myself along the way.

Instead, learning is the process of transformation; it involves changing our opinions and ideas along with the new situations we come across in life, all while helping improve ourselves. The more you know, the less of a punch life can pack.

The Lesson: Learn for life. The more you are informed about the truth, the easier it becomes to lock horns with stumbling blocks and try turning them into stepping stones.

Conclusion:?

The most significant thing I have learned and observed is that entrepreneurship has to be more about just making money.?

It’s a matter of giving yourself enough of a go, taking the risk, and doing things that you have never done before but still moving forward.

But I can remember feeling really stuck, wondering if there was something more, and doubting my ability to create a successful career. Nothing is guaranteed, except that it will be hard at times, and as long as you want to learn new things and put in hard work, there are endless possibilities.

Here is my challenge to you:

What are you going to do next on your entrepreneurial journey?

What is the one risk that you have been too scared to take??

Remember, risk big, gain much.

This is the year YOU take control, expect the unexpected in 2024, and rise up to become what you were born for.

Jaiden

?? P.S. What lessons from my journey resonate most with you? How can you apply these strategies to overcome the challenges you're facing in your entrepreneurial path right now?

Great inspiration! Most entrepreneurs started life grafting and then realised there was an opportunity but weren't afraid to take it. Loads of people online boast about making loads of money without doing any work, but the greatest creations take hard?work and perseverance.
