The Secret 4 D Solution That Creates Time Freedom

Being a business consultant, life coach, positive psychologist, and clinical physiologist, I do understand that without knowing what I call the 4 D Formula and without following a structured and focused plan, not only can you lose control of your business, but you can waste your time, money and energy only to discover each day you move further from living the delicious life you desire and you deserve.

When I was president of a national healthcare company, I was tired of not having the freedom to focus on my family, my health, my friends, my spirituality, my community, and my well-being. I was working too many hours, constantly on plans and in meetings, and started to wonder what my purpose on the planet was. Over 30 years ago, I quit my job to create my consulting and coaching firm, and I have never looked back.

Yet, being transparent, I ended up working MORE hours building my business and letting all other areas of my life sit on hold. After 6 months, I realized I had created nothing more than a job and was indeed trading time for money as I worked with clients on an individual basis.

I went back to a formula I had been teaching to my corporate clients and staff that I had abandoned in my own business. The 4 Ds are:

1. Do
2. Defer
3. Delegate
4. Delete

When you quickly and decisively look at your tasks and projects and put them in one of these categories, it helps you manage your limited time more effectively and stay focused on what matters most to you.

Email, snail mail, calls, projects, blogs, podcasts, content creation, and social media all need to be put in a category so you can get focused on what truly will move the needle.

Let's use a real client family member as an example. I'll call the client Sheryl. She came to me overwhelmed, confused, and sick of trying every new marketing gimmick. She hated cold DM's and liked the Heart-repreneur? concept of doing business heart-to-heart, yet she spent hours each day on social media, hoping somehow that would land her more clients. She tried imitating what everyone else was doing on social media and yet no income was coming from all the hours she put in daily. She was frustrated and felt that nothing was working and she was wasting hours of her time and energy and her money on ineffective ads.
