The CDC reports that in children, secondhand smoke (SHS) exposure can cause respiratory infections, ear infections, and asthma attacks. In babies, secondhand smoke can cause sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS).?Unfortunately,?a recent study?has added an association between SHS and myopia to this list of serious SHS consequences.?Therefore, it is imperative that myopia management practitioners ask parents about their kid's exposure to SHS and that doctors add this information to their clinical decision-making paradigms.
