Second Set Of Excerpts From The Play, Perdition Rhapsody -- Introducing Lorne & Cassidy....
Bio: Lorne is from New England, and he was one of the soldiers that Darius commanded during the Iraqi war. Lorne is a self-taught gifted musician, who is at home playing virtually any type of instrument and music.?Lorne enlisted in the army because he was in trouble with the law and was given the choice of jail or service to his country. Lorne lately is disenchanted because he's yet to make it as a rock star.?At this point in his quest to be a rock star, Lorne would basically do anything to get his big break. Lorne, like Darius, who is his friend and mentor, is an addict; he subsidizes his living by playing at The Muse and in the New York subways, where he has quite a following. Lorne dates Cassidy whom he may genuinely loves, or he may be dating her for ulterior motives or both. Lorne's latent jealousy of Cas’ talent is going to cause conflict between him and Cassidy.?
Opening Scenes of Perdition Rhapsody
There’s a panoramic camera view of New York, panning down on the various landmarks of the city. Scene switches to a condo. Darius comes out of the shower, preening in front of the mirror in the bathroom, brushes his teeth, and applied deodorant. He looks in the bathroom draws on the shower ledges, for a comb to comb his hair, all to no avail.?He tried to shape and combs his hair with his hands, but he is frustrated when he’s not satisfied with what he sees in the mirror. He goes through the pockets of the pants in laundry hamper, the slacks in his sparse closet, his jacket pockets, but cannot find a comb. He finally walks to the kitchen and searches the draws, and finds a folk, goes back to the mirror, and uses the folk to comb through his hair -- he stops and admires himself in the mirror. He’s satisfied. He slips into a pair of jeans, a wife beater, and a well-worn Army field jacket. Darius goes and find his boots, one of them, the right boot has black kiwi jar inside. He turns the boot upside down so that the kiwi jar could fall in his hand. He opens the Kiwi jar, and one side of it has imprints of little vials; this is where he hides his stash of crack/heroin -- but the vials are missing. To be certain, Darius places his hands in the kiwi, searching for his stash, his hand is now covered in black kiwi polish.
?Darius screams: L-o-r-n-e….
The camera/scene switches to Penn Station; it’s about 12:30 p.m. in the afternoon. There’s a crowd, mostly of young teen-aged girls, and some working stiffs, enjoying their lunch breaks. Cassidy stands out, dressed in a skirt, tank top, black timberland boots, cropped black hair --looking the best of Heroin chic. She has a tambourine in her hands. Lorne, tall, about 6-1, shoulder length blond hair, Army boots, jeans, tee-shirt, and a worn Army-field jacket. He has pre-recorded music, an electric guitar. The crowd, large for a subway performer, is a testament of Lorne’s fame at this level. Some in the crowd murmurs, eager for the performance to begin, there’re a few screams from the young ladies… some shouting out songs they would like to hear.

?I read your letter and the things you say
You said power cords are all we should play
Well this is what you gonna eat today, Virginia
Because if power cords is what you say we need
Look inside your body baby
You’ll see man and air the flying seed is in ya
You got it in ya
And if you depend on me
To make you rock and roll
Well you better look out tits
Because we’re getting old
Looking inside and check out your neglected soul, Virginia
Because I can sing and dance out alone on the scene
But me I feel find down at the music machine
But as for you the place to look for rock and roll is in you
Mn Virginia, mn you got it in ya
You know you got in ya
Ooh Virginia, ooh you got it in ya
Your letter came and today is the eigth
That is the day that moody earned his raise
And it makes me want to tell you stuff on manners
Dearest Virginia
And if you really care then you better stay awake
Check me out again baby say that I’m a fake
You can then say that’s parts of me that is in ya
Ooh Virginia ah now you got it in ya
Ooh yeah its all in ya,
Can you feel it in ya you got it in ya
You got in your heart you got it in ya
I’m just a tiny part of what’s in ya
Please remember darling sweet Virginia
That everything you need is already in ya
There is a musical interlude before the start of the final verse of the Who’s It’s In You. This is where the audience will get an early insight of Cassidy’s gift as a performer. During the interlude, Cassidy will dance catlike, borrowing from her time on the catwalk, doing a sauntering, mid-tempo grind, in what could only be described as “vulgar grace” that will drive the audience wild, while Lorne encourages her….
I hope to forgive you on your lack of tact
My patience holding out that hard earned fact
I can easily buy your time dearest Virginia
But you would always give me one more chance
You hang around and ask me to dance
But I can’t make you turn if it aint in ya
You got it in ya you got in your heart
You got it in you,
You know I’m just a tiny part of what’s in ya
Please remember darling, sweet Virginia
Everything you need is already in ya
Ooh yeah, you got it in ya
You got it in ya, you got it in ya
The scene ends
