Second Round of 43ft Dhow Sailing Race on Saturday

The 43ft Traditional Dhow Sailing boats are set to sail along Dubai's shores this weekend for the second round of the Dubai Championship, organized by the Dubai International Marine Club (DIMC) as part of the 2024-2025 sports season.

DIMC has already started preparations for the race, working closely with key partners, including government departments and national institutions, which consistently support the club's events.

Today, Tuesday, marks the opening of race registration via the club’s website (www.dimc.ae), which will stay open until Friday noon. In the meantime, DIMC is closely monitoring reports from the National Center of Meteorology and specialized platforms to evaluate sea conditions, wind speeds, and directions, ensuring the race is held under optimal and safe conditions for all participants and their boats.

The first round of the Dubai Traditional Dhow Sailing Race (43ft), held at the end of September, saw a strong turnout of dhow owners, captains, and sailors. The crew of Al Teber 55, owned by Rashid Mohammed Rashid bin Ghadeer and captained by Mohammed Sohail Al Muhairi, secured victory in that round.

It is worth noting that the Dubai Traditional Dhow Sailing Race (43ft) features only two rounds for the 2024-2025 season. The first took place last September, while the second is scheduled for next Saturday. This highly anticipated event will mark the 104th race in this category since the establishment of Dubai International Marine Club in 1988.
