Second Opinion: Does it always help?

Generally speaking you are right! Whenever or Doctor tell us about surgery, we always seek advice of another expert in the field for his opinion we call it as 'second opinion'. It does help in medical cases we have seen many times that the second opinion of the expert is that surgery is not really needed and we are saved from going under the scalpel. It has been statistically proved that taking second opinion about diagnosis of cases has more than 77% success rate and therefore taking second opinion in the field of medicine of course helps.
But we are talking about 'life in general' here in this article! Do you wish to take second opinion on major decisions in life? And in most of the cases the answer is yes, taking second opinion on selecting a life partner for example has lot of advantages. In personal lives too, we have seen cases where a person who wishes to marry another person take opinion of the third person mostly a close relative or a friend to seek his or her opinion on your decision is important. It could be either endorsement or even cautioning against the possible causes of disruption in life. A senior member of a family is often consulted by the head of the family in decision of buying a property or land for the family, this 'Bhishm Pitamah' is the brain behind the family's success is often consulted for major decisions about family's new business or new alliances with another large business family for marital union.
It may happen that the third person knows something more about the second person and therefore can give unbiased opinion about getting married by the first person. It is not only marital decisions but also in the case of taking career options, we often are thinking on one line only and if we refer to another knowledgeable person this makes lot of difference because the 'out of box' thinking of a third person gives a different angle to the decision and we may reverse the decision of career change or even look for another option available.
In the case of small businesses it is seen that most owners and entrepreneurs spend so much time in the day to day working of their companies that it’s hard to pull back and see the bigger picture. AT this time if you have a seasoned Adviser, getting input from an objective outsider — or in other words, getting a second opinion — is one of the best ways to plan strategically for the future of your company. This adviser helps you to understand the outside view or bird's eye view of your business and give you a different opinion for growth strategy.
If you look in a team game there is a captain and there is a vice captain who is generally consulted by the Captain in case of a strategic decision on the team selection or who should be dropped for a particular game or who should be included is a major decision which the second opinion of the vice captain is important. Similarly the Team Manager or Coach has a wealth of knowledge and experience is normally consulted by the Captain in taking important decisions before or during important games to change of plans
Even in corporate field large companies engage leading Consultants like Accenture, McKenzie who are hired to give 'second opinion' company's long term strategy or for developing a vision for an acquisition of a new business or in diversification of business in to a newer areas of growth.

Firstly, by virtue of who I am professionally and secondly by virtue of my religious sentiments. I would like to bring your attention to the Holy Quran , where there is a whole chapter named 'Ash Shuara', or 'consultations' where it is stressed on the need for discussing and consulting with one other in all matters of significance. The Quran and the Prophet Muhammad encourage Muslims to decide their affairs in consultation. Shura is mentioned as a praiseworthy activity to achieve excellence. In light of this guidance, I don't feel inferior to anyone in seeking opinions neither Superior to someone seeking guidance. Just following my guiding protocol and striving to achieve the best for myself and for all those whom I deal with. 5 年Mr Kishor, personally I believe it's altogether subjective and it totally depends on the situation that would decide whether we should go for second opinion or not, Indeed there is no harm in listening to others as the famous saying goes " Suno sabki karo manki" Also, we live in the world where you will always be surrounded by well wishers, people who will always talk about you and your decisions, there will always be someone who will question your judgement, someone will always doubt you or might support you... So you will always be surrounded by second, third, fourth ..... opinions...So just smile and make the choices which you can live with..Keep shining ??

This helps our brains process our thoughts and speaking something out loud gives stability and accountability because we have communicated verbally with another person. Important to consider the thoughts and perspectives of others AND still make our own best decisions.
