SECI Invites Agencies For Solar Site Studies; PXIL’s 160th REC Session Trades 1.55 Lakh RE Certificates and More...

The Solar Energy Corporation of India Limited (SECI) has issued a Request for Empanelment (RfE) to agencies for conducting site studies essential for preparing Detailed Project Reports (DPRs) for solar PV projects, including ground-mounted and floating types. Dated November 13, 2024, the RfE seeks to enlist qualified agencies to undertake various categories of surveys necessary for different stages of solar project development.


Power Exchange India Limited (PXIL) successfully hosted the 160th session of Renewable Energy Certificate (REC) trading, facilitating the 15th trading session for the financial year 2024-2025 and the 36th since the new CERC regulations of December 2022. The session saw a total of 1.55 lakh RECs transacted. This milestone follows a directive from the Central Electricity Regulatory Commission (CERC) and guidance from the Delhi High Court, lifting previous restrictions on the sale of RECs issued prior to October 31, 2022, which allowed broader market participation.


In a recent hearing with the Gujarat Electricity Regulatory Commission (GERC), Tata Power Renewable Energy Limited (TPREL) filed a petition seeking recognition of the imposition of safeguard duties on imported solar cells as a “Change in Law” under their Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) signed with Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam Limited (GUVNL) in 2019. The imposition of these duties by the Ministry of Finance, covering a period from July 2020 to July 2021, is argued by TPREL to affect the financial terms of their agreement, necessitating compensation or adjustments.
