SEC and Justice Department reportedly investigating SVB’s collapse
Good morning FinTech Fanatic,
News about the SVB collapse still keeps piling up. To keep you on track, we summarise the most important headlines in the dedicated SVB section below.
That gives me the opportunity to set sight at some other developments in the FinTech scene.
For example the FinTech deals that occurred in Europe last week . In over 12 deals a total of €54.8m was raised, with companies from the UK, France and Germany strongly represented.
Congratulations to all the teams!
A topic I have discussed before in this newsletter, is Flutterwave and its troubles in Kenya.
Africa’s most valuable unicorn is still not off the hook in the African country, as a sum of almost $3 million of its money that was confiscated in the second government seizure over money laundering and fraud claims remains frozen .
The initial case against Flutterwave was closed last month and $52.5 million released, after the ARA formally withdrew the case. This second case, however, continues. Kenyan high court judges set the next mention for 23 March 2023. To be continued…
To return to the SVB topic for a moment again, I would like to remind you of the poll I set up around the question ‘Who killed SVB? yesterday.
We almost got 5.000 votes by now, which already gives a reasonable picture of the sentiment in the market, but do not hesitate to share your thoughts on the matter; feel free to vote !
Please find a selection of the other FinTech news below, and have a nice day!
