Seasons Shape Our Lives and Autumn Is the Season for Reflecting, Slowing Down and Creating Intentionally

We're just over halfway through the summer period (for us Northern Hemisphere people), and I’m still holding onto bits of sunshine where we can before I return back to London at the end of the month. I'm a summer girl through and through so I'm holding onto ALL of it! ???

How’s your summer been so far??

Summer to me is the season of living in the moment, connecting with friends and loved ones, exploring new places and embodying the mantra of ‘having fun = success’! It’s a time to also enjoy the blossoming of the seeds I’ve sown during Spring - in my case all the hard work I’ve put into creating foundations in my business, new systems and processes all whilst onboarding and supporting clients. Tis is the season of connection, adventure, spending time with family, and creating memories.?

I haven’t always lived in seasons, as someone that grew up in Singapore where there was only one season!?

But it’s what I love about having seasons in my life now; variation and intentionally. Making choices about how I move my body, how I engage with others, choices about my business (I prefer running 1-day retreats and focusing on my 1:1 clients now) and the energy I choose to be in (slower vs faster).?

Seasons shape what is currently happening around me and create a path for what needs to be done in the months to come. They have unintentionally provided my life with a steady rhythm and over time, I have learnt a lot from paying attention to how the seasons are a reflection of my own progress and growth.?

We are now slowly entering the season of Autumn. It is the time to gather knowledge, reflect and harvest new ideas. It can often be the season of contrast, of holding on and letting go. What you planted earlier in the year is ripe and ready and for some, it can be the season of enjoying hard work paying off as well as making sure that you are prepared for times when your life may have dips.?

Autumn is the time to get rid of what might weigh you down and to feel purposeful and intentional. It’s time to really think about what you want to create for the rest of the year. I use this time to reflect and review my goals for the quarter and incorporate different practices for different seasons.?

Here are a few reflective questions from a holistic mind, body, and soul perspective that can help you end the summer on a high and get into autumn and the rest of the year with intentionality and focus.

MIND - Reflecting on the Summer season, what are you proud of achieving or embodying? This could be a milestone, a new behaviour or belief, or embracing a new way of life like slowing down. Moving into autumn, what do you want to stop, start, and continue doing going into the new season? Write down 1 for each.

BODY - How’s your body feeling? Rate on a scale of 1-10. What emotion(s) come to mind? Where in your body are you feeling it? What do you want to prioritise in this next season? Is it more movement, better nutrition, more sleep or hydrating yourself better? Maybe it’s moving your body in a different way. What does movement look like to you in autumn??

SOUL - How is your soul feeling? Light and vibrant, or heavy and emotional? What will you be doing to connect with your soul and what will you be doing to slow down in this slower season??
