Seasons Greetings and update from the Centre for Compressor Technology
2019 has been a brilliant year for the Centre for Compressor Technology. Most notably, we completed phase 1 of the design and development of a family of oil-injected compressors for Kirloskar Pneumatics Company and began the engagement for phase 2 to develop a family of oil-free compressors and a new rotor profile for the company. Our staff and students organised the 18th and final EGPR (European Global Product Realisation) project, the final exhibition of which was held in Bosnia & Herzegovina in the summer of this year. We also hosted the 11th International Conference on Compressors and their Systems and the 4th Short Course and Forum on CFD in Rotary Positive Displacement Machines at City University of London. Click here to read the post-conference report.
2020 will mark an important milestone for us as we celebrate our 25th anniversary and the achievements of Prof Ian Smith, who established the Centre in 1995 along with Prof Nikola Stosic, as he is awarded Emeritus Professorship. We invite all those who have been part of our journey to celebrate with us [Feb 13th]. Sign-up here.
We will start the new year with a discussion on the Need for System Integration Capability. We recognise the increase in demand for system integration and this symposium, of national significance, highlights our commitment to improving the curriculum and training for the future engineers. Sign-up here.
In the new year, we will be reopening our experimental laboratories after refurbishment. We are excited to open our facilities for our research staff and students and welcome new collaborative projects from clients (contact: [email protected]). We will also continue and strengthen our long term collaboration with Howden Compressors (Scotland).
Stay with us to hear of new plans for the development of the Centre, new appointments to be advertised and PhD opportunities in the new year.
Happy holidays and very best wishes for a prosperous year ahead!
