The seasons of change.

Having been in the survey industry for more years now than this seasoned soul cares to admit to. Closing my eyes this morning in reminiscence, envisioning the swaying phragmites touching the sky above me, interrupted by the sounds of my sloshing boot steps while wadding through a quagmire of thicket and marshlands. Embracing the sensational thirst on the hottest summery days and the stimulus of the torrential natures of horizontal rainfall propelled by brisk wind gusts. The surrender to snow depths halting my movement as I sink to my frozen chin hair.

These natural and unnatural lifetime experiences develop a focus and understanding that cannot be found any other way or anywhere other than your current place intime. Combined with the cold steel like audacity to stay the course before you. Committed effort like the oldest oak tree you ever saw during your time in the woodlands and unrelenting perseverance like the gangliest Willow tree that created an obstacle course between you and your next topo ground shot. Experiencing the Willows unwillingness to fall to the ground and give into to degeneration. The privilege to climbing through its rise to regeneration. Scaling its gangly growth, like a marine at boot camp just to get your shot.

Only then will you witness and relate the trials of growth and experience some forced and some submissively introduced characteristics. Welcomed and unwelcomed impacts that forge the proverbial course we know as change.

?Perhaps change can then be considered the only true constant. Yours and my journey in time affords you and I the stamina to experience the refining nature of time. Imparting a measured truth of time-tested understanding. Recognizing there are many approaches to this craft we have set our hearts on mastering and a diverse use of toolsets and techniques that will aid in our quest.

From the air to the land and sea we are capturing data like never before. Our toolset continues to advance. Some willing to invest in the mastering methodologies and technologies. Others holding fast to the last breath of the historic cash cow.

These days submerged within the quest of the right solution, the right connection and capability to flourish. Innovatively saturated with possibilities and illumination of efficiencies. ?Affecting masterful workflows and developing productive networks. Just this morning remembering my first robotic total station experience while in the field. The vibrating blunder was a worthless waste of time, in my frustrated and narrow entanglement of personal/professional opinion. Until it was introduced to my overconfident understanding that the right set of legs would cure the vibration. The epiphany was absorbed and put amongst my many moments of collective brilliance and applied to my intellect and budding understanding of change as I developed my endless adaptation to this skillset.

Every tool we use daily has regularly gone through a transformation, on the drawing board, in the lab, and, on technicians' bench somewhere.?Those individuals yearning to here of the experiences from the implementation in the field. ?Those fragments of intelligence merge with the mother ship of genius. Motivating thought processes that have changed our world and the way we live life out. ?Inducing willingness to master our craft, solving the multiple dysfunction and rugged misuse filtering out the blame of responsibility found only in the trials and errors from the front lines. That lore sparks the inferno of invention and innovations that reach for change with the ferocity of industrial growth.
