A Season for Wishing
The other day I read a beautiful thought written by Harlan Miller, “I wish we could put some of the Christmas spirit in jars and open a jar of it every month.” The holiday time brings out those kinds of wishes.
?Have you ever considered why we make wishes? I am sure that everyone has made a wish sometime in their life. I find that we make and offer wishes in our everyday lives. Think about it: we offer birthday wishes, wish someone could come to an invite and even give best wishes at the end of letters and emails.
?From the time you blow out your first candle, you establish that wishes can bring something good. For that reason alone, we know making a wish is worth it! Wishing people good things and happiness comes naturally for most of us. And I say you can never give too many of those wishes away!???
?Today, I would like you to consider the wishes you make for yourself. Why should we limit the wishes we make for ourselves to our birthday? I recently was asked what I wish I had for myself, which gave me pause. I didn’t really have an answer at the time. Over the next few days, I thought on this and realized that I had been considering the wishes of others while my wish list was empty.???
?To better understand my true wish, I considered what I am truly grateful for in my life.? My cup runneth over!? With that in mind, I knew what I wanted!??
?The wish I make this holiday season is for peace, joy and appreciation for all that is good in my life. Knowing that I am blessed fills my soul and is a wish worth making.
?This Monday, find your wish, know your joy and open that jar of holiday wishes not only during the holidays but every season.
