Are You Still on Track With Your Goals?
It’s that time of year—the energy of January’s fresh start has settled, and we’re now in the messy middle of the season. Some of us are still charging forward, while others may feel stuck, overwhelmed, or questioning if our goals still align with what we truly want.
So, let’s pause. Take a deep breath. Check in with yourself.
?? Are you still moving toward the goals you set at the start of the year?
?? Do those goals still feel right for you?
?? Or are you feeling stuck—held back by self-doubt, resistance, or a shifting vision?
If you’re feeling any resistance or uncertainty, that’s not failure—it’s a natural part of growth. And this is exactly where mindfulness can make all the difference.
When the Path Feels Unclear, Try a Beginner’s Mind
Often, we think achieving our goals requires more effort, more planning, more willpower. But what if what you really need is less pressure and more presence?
There’s a mindfulness principle called Beginner’s Mind—the practice of seeing things with fresh eyes, free from past experiences, assumptions, or limiting beliefs.
Most of us approach our goals with a fixed mindset:
?? “I’ve tried this before, and it didn’t work.”
?? “I’m behind. I should have made more progress by now.”
?? “This isn’t happening fast enough. Maybe I should give up.”
But a Beginner’s Mind says: ? “What if I approached this goal like it’s brand new?” ? “What if I let go of my timeline and just took the next best step?” ? “What if success is still unfolding in ways I can’t see yet?”
And here’s where Loving-Kindness Meditation (Metta) becomes an essential tool.
Mindfulness + Loving-Kindness: A Gentle Way to Reset ??
When you feel stuck, frustrated, or self-critical about your progress, practicing Loving-Kindness Meditation can shift everything.
Metta meditation isn’t just about sending love to others—it’s about cultivating self-compassion, which is key when navigating the ups and downs of personal growth.
?? Imagine approaching your goals with the same kindness you would offer a dear friend. ?? Instead of self-criticism, what if you replaced it with: “I am doing my best, and that is enough.”
?? Instead of feeling defeated, what if you said: “May I be patient, may I be resilient, may I trust the journey.”
This simple practice helps dissolve resistance, making space for clarity, creativity, and momentum to return.
Mindfulness in Action: 3 Ways to Reset Your Approach to Your Goals
If you feel stuck, here’s how you can apply mindfulness to re-engage with your goals in a way that feels aligned, energized, and open to possibility.
1?? Release the Pressure to “Catch Up”
The world tells us we should be further along by now. But who decides that?
?? Try this: Instead of judging yourself for where you think you should be, ask:
?? Where am I now? What is the very next small step I can take?
When you let go of the urgency, you regain momentum without the weight of self-judgment.
2?? Let Curiosity Lead the Way
When we’re too attached to a specific outcome, we can become blind to the unexpected opportunities unfolding around us.
?? Try this: Approach your goal like an experiment.
?? What’s one thing I haven’t tried yet?
?? What’s another way to look at this challenge?
Curiosity keeps you open to growth, rather than locked in frustration.
3?? Reconnect With Your Why
Sometimes, we outgrow our original goals—but we don’t give ourselves permission to change direction.
?? Try this: Take a moment to reflect
?? Does this goal still excite and inspire me?
?? If I started fresh today, would I still choose this path?
If your why still resonates, recommit. If it doesn’t, give yourself permission to adjust.
A Heartfelt Invitation for This Season ??
Instead of forcing progress, flow with it. Instead of judging yourself, support yourself. Instead of pushing harder, pause and listen.
? If your goals still feel right—lean in with renewed presence.
? If you’re feeling stuck—let go of what’s not working and make space for what could.
? If your vision has shifted—trust that change is part of the process.
One of the best ways to reconnect with your journey is through mindfulness and community.
