In a few days 2018 will start, a new year with renewed hopes. I believe that preserving optimism "no matter what" is the driver that makes human existence bearable. 

For Sesar (sesar.di.unimi.it), 2017 has been a good year. We have completed a major FP7 research project (PRACTICE) and - with the CINI hat - we are leading a H2020 project on Big data, TOREADOR (take a look at the latest demo: www.toreador-project.eu and join our community), and started another promising one, EVOTION.

Also we launched a start-up, Moon Cloud (www.moon-cloud.eu) that delivers an innovative "cross layer" platform for collection and analytics of assurance data on physical devices and in the cloud.

I am proud that Sesar is working at the cutting edge of technology, helping EU organizations to develop their data analytics potential in a smart and innovative way to serve their customers better. Sesar and its dedicated research team look forward to contributing to the progress of EU societies and economies in 2018.

Also, 2018 will mark the tenth anniversary of IRIXYS (www.irixys.org) our research center "without walls" involving INSA-Lyon and University of Passau. We are planning a big event for this anniversary.
