Search is a Skill, but for Marketers, it’s an Art

The end of a decade. Welcoming 2020 and promising ourselves of utilizing time is what all of us strive to do every year. As they say... "Every second counts"

"So, is TIME the most expensive thing today?

Yes, right!

Now, How are you gonna manage it while keeping yourself updated to the latest trends and findings?

Through GOOGLE or any other search engine?

NO!

Following your subscriptions, newsletters, followed pages?

Maybe YES!

Okay Cool!

But What if something slips and the only option is to search and get an idea about it?

Not a problem, we can do it.-- with the help of  Google.

Well!  That’s right, but do you know how much time would it require for you to end up your search?

“Mm-hmm, Not sure."

Let's understand this...

We are blessed with Google or other search engines. We sometimes simply find the right results in a matter of seconds.

Thanks to their searching algorithms.

And...

Apart from Images, Maps, News, Videos, Shopping, Flights, Books and Finance which are some prominent filters there for our ease, one can use these unexplored results-sorting attributes along with filters as well.

Moving ahead and try other ancillary features that the search engine has got.

How?

Let's start.

What if sometimes we are stuck with complex search queries?

The ancillary and rarely used features of these search engines come to the rescue, which one can use in dying moments of searching for something:

Have you ever used it?

If YES, then congratulations on saving time on your research. Now go on and read some other stuff. This is not for you since you know it already.

Using these features is as easy as cutting a cake. Trust me, these traits of Google act like filters and perform outstandingly by giving you desired results in no time.

Let's explore:

  • I am starting with sharing a quick hack with you' all which is "keyword site:URL ". Now, think of a situation where you remember the website name or homepage URL and want to search for something particular on the website.

By doing this you'll have the only keyword-specific results from a particular URL.

  • Time Range Search:

Now, this is exciting! Out of billions of pages from millions of URLs, what is the latest and how to find it? Not an issue! You may have a specific long or short phrase in mind to put up in the search console or wanted to read the latest update on any particular topic or industry you follow. Google has kept it so simple to get handpicked results in seconds.

Let’s see how

Just make sure your keyword has every word and it needs to get the right results. Here in this screenshot, you can see right after putting keywords you get to see Tools under which you get time range filters to sort all the updated results according to the time filter you've applied.

For example:

Think of a situation where you need to check "If google has updated anything in search algorithm in October 2019 or not?"

You can simply apply a custom time range filter on the appropriate keyword as shown in the image below.

  • Here is my favorite one: Verbatim. Because when I need to see keyword phrases in exact order wherever used on the web. This feature is good to search for anything.

It may not give you an exact placing of Keywords in any particular result and that means it didn't find any result (URL) with all the keywords placed correctly according to the search query. But if the query got matched with any existing URL with the exact order of placing of keywords, then it is most likely that it returns the URL which you want to see on top.

Let's see how it works:

Try searching with Verbatim for a while and it quickly put across satisfactory results.

I use these features whenever I run out of time. Luckily, it helped me.

Also, taking a smart search resolution in 2020 is not a bad idea.

TIP: Use these in combinations, and you can shorten down the hassle of scrolling and picking the best URL out of any search query.

Comment down If know anything similar to this. It would be much appreciated.

Have a great 2020!
