Search for IDOCs by content

Transaction WE02 / WE05 provides an IDOC browser where IDOCs are listed based on the search criteria namely, Inbound or outbound, Date range, Idoc or message type, Partner details.

we all face a situation where we have to find an idoc based on field value from an Idoc segment. This is more common in migration projects where we transfer a lot of data to target system. SAP provides a tcode WE09 to filter an idoc directly based on material number or purchase order or vendor.

Steps to find an idoc in WE09 based on field value in Idoc segment.

1. Open Tcode WE09
2. Enter Idoc type and date range for which Idoc to be searched.
3. Scroll down to find the above mentioned section from image, to provide the criteria for search in Data records.
4. Execute
5. Idoc with relevant search criteria will be selected and displayed along with the status.

WE09 provides an easy way to search an idoc by content directly and No need to search an idoc by content directly from EDID4 database table.
