The pursuit of happiness... ?Do you think you get it where you currently live?

Work = Money = Consumption

Approximately 200 years ago, the grandparents of our grandparents left their habits and ways of life with the promise that in cities with access to work in companies, it would bring them a better life, full of happiness...

Today we, the great-great-grandchildren, great-grandchildren and grandchildren of those men, live in the cities where the largest number of productive companies are grouped.

We also find, the academic and government institutions, the banks, the commerce to which we are addicted and therefore, the largest number of houses and buildings are built that saturate the soil, pollute the air, displace animals and alter the vital cycles of water.

Everything to carry out the activities that finally end up being 90% economic. And all this brings us hundreds of problems that we do not perceive easily because we are always running with stress, in our busy life.

We do it to make money and buy, profit, survive, and others, unfortunately, do not even achieve that. And we also do it because if not, with age we will not be able to retire to live the dream that the pension promises us.

The pressure imposed on the system does not allow us all to be well.
And yet we remain the same.

Let's think about this:

  • Of the 168 hours in a week, between 40 and 48 hours are spent working for someone or running their business. That amount, if not more, when you become addicted. Whether you see it or not. Whether you have reasons or not. Work seems sometimes the purpose of life.

Is your happiness here? Sometimes? When does what you do fill you? When are you proud of the company you work for? Or never?

  • If we take the optimal amount of sleep that they recommend, we spend 56 hours sleeping.

Do you find happiness sleeping? Hmmm, sleepyheads will say yes. :)

  • And the rest of the time we dedicate to transfers, which in the best of cases are 2 hours a day, between round trips with semi-congested traffic and short weekend departures, so we are talking about 14 more hours.

Does this time spent in traffic make you happy (!)????

  • This leaves us with only 50 hours, or a third of the time for the rest of our lives, spread out over 7 days of the week.

Ok, we're getting there: maybe some of this will make you really happy living in the city to be closer to your work.

Let's take a look at what you do with the time you have left and how it is distributed among the different activities, depending on the type of person you are:

You take advantage of the time with your immediate family: that is, your children and partner.

  • You spend with your distant family from time to time, your parents, uncles, cousins, etc.
  • You visit parks and spend time in nature.
  • You visit malls for purchases or go to the supermarket.
  • You spend it reading, writing, listening to music, dancing, singing, creating works of art.
  • You learn languages, dance or martial arts.
  • You walk around the city, visiting museums and theaters.
  • You spend it cooking, cleaning the house or doing the laundry.
  • You serves pro bono in emergencies on weekends.
  • You do sports outdoors or in gyms.
  • Either you pray or you preach.
  • You study.
  • You play games digitally, you explore social media, you watch TV.
  • You go to beauty salons, restaurants, bars, casinos.
  • Etc.

Our life is very active and almost never stops, but have you ever wondered if you are really happy when you do any of these things? ?Or do you just pass the time while Monday arrives to go to work, because we are all programmed to do that?

All these activities and occupations have to be developed mainly in the cities, because everything is close to our homes and as you saw, our time to enjoy and relax is really very little, work and sleep occupy most of our time, although for many, the work outweighs everything in time invested.

You may have left a rural area to gain access to work and opportunities to grow. Or you can commute from one side of the most populated centers to work, creating the congestion we all face on a daily basis.

And we have been hearing for decades about the contamination by fossil fuels that increases in these traffic jams, but it seems that we do not care or what is worse, we are resigned.

Added to this is the emotional deterioration generated by the stress of crowded roads and the impatience of people waiting for movement or to pass first in line.

All this is accepted and seen as normal.

  • Secretly, many yearn to live more in peace and close to nature.
  • Surely many love to live between concrete and artificial spaces.

People say that:

“Oh yeah, what are you going to do:
this is life and the system,
It can not be changed".

What if I told you there is another way to live? One where you can really take a breather, stop and enjoy more really free time, with your family and friends in a really healthy environment?

From the first Revolution to the fourth Revolution

There are many people who resist change. There are others who embrace it.

Our parents' grandparents had to embrace the change from the countryside to the cities and at the time that was fine.

There was growth for them, they were happier and life improved for their families. Or at least that's what we want to believe happened to them.

The Industrial allowed them to consume. Today, things are changing again. Digital allows us to rest.

?How so? You might say.

Each generation has an advantage and an opportunity. How we use them is entirely up to each of us. Let me explain:

If we go back to the count of hours, you will see that working remotely, thanks to digitality, allows you to add at least 14 more hours to your 50 hours of free life.

Thanks to the digital also, today we can create different companies, which allow us to work less and have more rewarding jobs.

For example, if these more ethical and social companies incorporate Robotics to make your life easier and not to create more profit margins for shareholders, the work could allow you to:

Decelerate

Imagine that of the 40 hours you use to work you could save 8. We are talking about 72 hours to live instead of only 50. ?Can you imagine what you could achieve with all that free time?

The most important thing is that the digital that makes it easier for you to work remotely, allows you to live in environments and developments that promote a community life in which the 72 hours off will do you a lot of good.

Imagine it. You will have your family a few steps away. You could educate your children from home. You could rest more. Exercise like you've always wanted. You will be healthier because you eat better and breathe clean, fresh air. You will lower your stress levels. You can have more than one hobby. You will be able to be more sociable and interact with your community to serve them.

Now tell me: ?Could it be that this is closer to the happiness that many of us seek? With everything that I just told you, did I tell you anything about to consume? And if this sounds interesting to you but you don't see how it can be possible, let me tell you:

Degrowth

What if where you live with your family, you can educate them and also serve and work, eat healthy, breathe clean and fresh air, walk without worries, exercise, have hobbies, live close to your friends and grow old without fear? Do you have to add anything else?

The answer to that is that you finally live in Villa Paraiso! And it's not just a place. It is a lifestyle.

It is a concept where Decelerating and Decreasing go hand in hand to create more balanced communities in control of their lives.

Under this concept of life, we do not have to destroy the rest of the living beings and their homes to have more. It is a place where we build and regenerate to be.

It is a less indifferent and frenetic place and lifestyle. With more sense of unity, more awareness and connection with ourselves and nature. Finally it is a more HUMAN lifestyle.

Do you think that place can exist? Would you like to live there? Imagine it.
