  1. what is search engine ?

  • A search engine is a software system that is designed to carry out web searches. They search the World web in a systamatic way for particular information specified in a textual web search query.
  • when a user enters a search term, the search engine look at the website page titles, contents and keywords it has indexed and uses algorithms (step-by-step-operations) to produce a list of sites - with the most relevant websites at the top of the list.

Search Engine has 3 main process.

  1. Crawling
  2. Indexing
  3. Ranking

Understanding Crawling

  • Crawling is the process of finding new or updated pages to add to google (Google Crawling My Website). One of the google crawling engines crawls (requests) the page. The terms often used interchangeably although they are different (but closely related) actions.

Understanding Indexing

  • A page is indexed by google if it has been visited by the Google Crawler (Google Bot), analysed for content and meaning, and stored in the google index. Indexed pages can be shown in google search results (if they follow google's webmaster guidelines).

Understanding Ranking

  • To rank websites, google uses web crawlers that scan and index pages. Every page gets rated according to Google's opinion of its authority and usefulness to the end-user. Then, using an algorithm with over 210 known factors, google orders them on a search result page.

  • By using any of the paid medium which is referred as PPC (Pay Per Click).
  • And Organic medium which is referred as SEO (Search Engine Optimization).
