Seams of Success: Global Brands Turn to India
Christmas is here, and India is shining bright as a key player in the global fashion industry. With the festive season in full swing, international brands are increasingly relying on India’s apparel hubs like Tiruppur and Noida to meet the demand. ?Amid political unrest in Bangladesh, India’s efficient and reliable manufacturing capabilities are taking center stage this season.
Tiruppur: ?450 Crore in Export Orders in Two Weeks
Tiruppur, Tamil Nadu’s knitwear hub, has recorded an impressive ?450 crore in export orders in just two weeks. Renowned retailers like Germany’s KiK, the Netherlands’ Zeeman, and Poland’s Pepco are sourcing affordable knitwear such as children’s clothing, nightwear, and pyjamas priced at $3 each.
“This is a unique milestone,” says KM Subramanian, President of the Tiruppur Exporters’ Association. Enhanced factory audits and modernized production facilities have further strengthened the region’s capacity to meet global demand.
Noida: Fast Fashion’s New Favourite
Noida is gaining traction in the fast-fashion market, with Zara increasing its orders by 15% compared to last year. The brand has placed bulk orders for women’s tops and dresses priced between $5 and $9, with a tight 60-day delivery window.

The Noida Apparel Export Cluster (NAEC) attributes this growth to the region’s ability to combine speed and quality, making it a preferred choice for high-street fashion brands.
India Closing the Gap with Bangladesh
India’s apparel exports are narrowing the gap with Bangladesh, which exported $34.5 billion in FY24 compared to India’s $14.5 billion. In Q1 FY25, India’s readymade garment exports surged to $3.9 billion, significantly reducing the disparity. Experts believe that a Free Trade Agreement (FTA) with the European Union could further boost India’s global market share.
A Bright Future for Indian Apparel Manufacturing
As hubs like Tiruppur and Noida gain recognition for their reliability and modernized production, the country is steadily emerging as a preferred sourcing destination for international brands.?With $2.5 billion invested in production-linked incentives and foreign investment tripling since 2019, India is on track to become a top sourcing destination for global fashion brands.
