SeaLead launches new direct service to Colombo Port

On October 2, SeaLead Shipping, in partnership with the Sri Lanka Ports Authority (SLPA), officially launched its new direct liner service from the Port of Colombo, Sri Lanka. The inauguration ceremony in Colombo was attended by prominent representatives from both SeaLead and SLPA. Bongso Basheer, General Manager, Liner Management, SeaLead Shipping Singapore, Harsha De Silva, Managing Director, Specialized Shipping Services, and several other senior executives from SeaLead were present. This development enhances maritime connectivity between the Far East, India and East Africa through the launch of the Far East India Djibouti (FID) service. The FID service commenced operations on September 5 and provides weekly liner services connecting key ports in China, India and Djibouti. The westbound route begins in Shanghai and passes through key points such as Ningbo, Nansha, Port Klang, Colombo, Nhava Sheva and Mundra before terminating in Djibouti. The eastbound round trip connects Djibouti directly to Shanghai, streamlining trade in these key regions. Prabath Malavige, Managing Director of the Sri Lanka Ports Authority, commented on the mutual benefits of the collaboration, highlighting the important role of the Port of Colombo in the global supply chain. “The collaboration with SeaLead is in line with our ongoing commitment to strengthen Colombo’s position as the region’s premier maritime hub. The FID service will not only enhance trade connectivity but also solidify the strategic importance of the Port of Colombo in facilitating efficient global shipping operations.”
