SeaBot XR’s CEO Gordon Meadow to present on work and achievements to underpin the RN’s remote and autonomous maritime workforce as guest speaker at IT2EC, Europe’s primarily forum for training and simulation.
Gordon Meadow, CEO of SeaBot XR and Head of Royal Navy Future Training, Captain Dan Vincent, to co-present at IT2EC 2022, London (UK). ?ITEC is Europe’s primary forum for training, simulation?and education technologies.
Attracting stakeholders from military, government, industry and academia connect, IT2EC’s Conference 2022 theme is Navigating rapidly evolving technologies for Training and Education - Expanding on Digital Twins - The risks of AI - Human and Machine Learning Panel 1. Multinational Perspectives on Digital Engineering and Digital Twins.
Gordon Meadow will discuss the progress on the development of training programs suitable for future surface and subsurface operations of new remote and autonomous technology being introduced into the maritime domain. He will also outline the progress made by the International Working Group, MASSPeople which is tasked with bringing focus to the people behind the maritime sector’s technology revolution, and how it has created a multiple Flag State Administration partnership to help shape future workforce training and competency standards worldwide, embracing remote and human operations.
In Defence, the Royal Navy has collaborated with SeaBot XR resulting in the UK becoming the first nation to develop a nationally funded workforce training scheme for uncrewed surface and sub-surface remote and autonomous vehicle operations, enabling remote and uncrewed vessel operatives to match their crewed vessel counterparts in training and competencies.
With people at the centre of autonomy adoption, SeaBot XR, together with the Royal Navy and Solent Maritime Enterprise Zone (SMEZ) identified the need for new Maritime Autonomous surface and subsurface operative skills and training frameworks. As a result, the National Centre for Operational Excellence in Marine Robotics, namely CEbotiX was launched as an MOU between SeaBot XR, Royal Navy and the National Oceanology Centre’s NOC Innovations. Now a commercial reality, actively supported by many key maritime businesses and organisations, SMEZ continues to champion this as part of a pan-national maritime enterprise, enabling the Royal Navy and commercial organisations to benefit from its consortium approach, resulting in a focus on making maritime safer, cleaner and smarter.
