SE Vision 2035 Outlines The Future of Systems Engineering
Imagine a 10-15-year prediction for not just systems engineering, but connected industries such as academia and government. Imagine a roadmap that identifies where leaders and collaborators need to expend attention and resources. That guideline is here in the form of Systems Engineering Vision 2035.?
SE Vision is a project of the International Council on Systems Engineering (INCOSE), created to inspire and guide the strategic direction of systems engineering across diverse stakeholder communities. “A collaborative effort among industry, academia, and government entities is needed to realize this vision,” said Sanford Friedenthal, the team lead for both SE Vision 2035 and 2025 (released in 2014).
SE Vision 2035 features the collective efforts of more than 10 people, including systems engineers at Ford Motor Company, Lutron Electronics and IBM, as well as researchers in the NASA/Jet Propulsion Laboratory at California Institute of Technology and Delft University of Technology.
The team spent two years working on the project – all during the pandemic.?“The vision provides the motivation and identifies the essential elements to advance systems engineering practice over the next decade,” Friedenthal said.
The web version of the SE Vision 2035 along with an electronic copy in PDF that can be downloaded are available from the INCOSE website: www.incose.org/sevision
