SDRs, You're At Risk of Being Replaced...

I really don't want to become the old man who is constantly yelling at new salespeople 24/7 about how they need to pick up the phone, but SDRs are at a massive risk of being replaced if things don't change soon...

A few days ago I had someone comment on one of my TikToks that it's crazy to expect someone to dial the phone for 3 hours out of their day. If spending less then half of your work day calling prospects is crazy, then what are you doing all day?

DMs? Emails? Research? All of these methods are already being replaced by AI.

Over the past 5 years I've seen new salespeople put all of their chips into prospecting methods that don't need a human to leverage anymore. AI is rapidly replacing custom email, DMs, and a lot of the back-end research that many SDRs prefer to spend most of their time doing.

Everything that makes sellers unique and valuable as a human salesperson is being ignored in favor of easier methods that make those human sellers less valuable and more replaceable.

Every prospecting method has value, that's why they exist... but while you've been spending all of your time working smarter, people smarter than both of us have been working tirelessly on creating software solutions that can do that "smart" work without having to pay you to hit a few keystrokes.

My advice? Don't stop doing the "smart" things that AI will eventually replace, but look to leverage AI for them whenever you can to free up more time for you to do the things that make you unique as a human being, like blowing the dust off that phone and calling people.

If you don't do this you will eventually be replaced by people that are willing to do the work, or by AI, or by a combination of the two.

... Or maybe I'm completely wrong because some nerd on here dazzled you with a get-rich-quick-by-doing-less-work strategy that makes you less valuable and more replaceable.
