SD-WAN perceived as IoT ?
Wrote this article by combining 2 worlds, SD-WAN and IoT. Not necessarily SD-WAN helping IoT, but more abstract as to how we can perceive SD-WAN itself to be IoT. If so, what are the possibilities.

7 年Ravi kumar Chunduru Thanks for those interesting thoughts. 1) Program SD-WAN Application Aware Policies. Enterprise LAN discovery and AAR is something which most SD-WAN companies will be able to offer. SD-WAN AAR is not entirely static. Applications can be grouped into business-critical, videos, social-media etc. I think the the major differentiation will come when we combine the power of identifying numerous applications/sub-applications with path quality based path (WAN) selection. 2) Distributed Knowledge Sharing This is possible the moment we bring NFV into picture. Let's say that SD-WAN edge devices host NFVs and the Service provider backbone network also hosts NFV from the same SD-WAN provider. Then the centralized controller can share knowledge about the applications being routed via the edge device and inform the backbone to provision more NFVs to handle traffic, or do path selection within the service provider backbone network etc. This will lead to an intelligent and an adaptive network. Intelligence not just at edge devices but also throughout the service provider network.

7 年Interesting Idea. We can as well do the following 1) Program SD-WAN Application Aware Policies. Let Alexa discover the Enterprise LAN and program the Application Aware Policies in SD-WAN. Currently, SD-WAN AAR policies still look static. BW and WAN selection can be auto tuned based on applications discovered and pattern of their usage. 2) Distributed Knowledge Sharing With a distributed network of Alexa SD-WANs, the centralized controller brain can program the path of application in enterprise network as well as backbone network of the Service Provider. It is as if Alexa teaching other Alexas and together forming a Intelligent and Adaptive Network. And much more in those lines

7 年Nice article Prasanna. It was good to know how SDN can be done using simple voice commands. I also liked the flow of the article.
