We’re at the end of a busy week for our group. The group has unanimously re-elected Iratxe?García?as president for the next?2.5?years, and our MEPs have also elected the vice-presidents and treasurer. Check out the team below:

Late last night, EU heads of states and governments gave their green light for the three candidates to lead the European institutions. A seasoned politician and strong leader,?António?Costa?has been appointed as future president of the EU Council.

“The appointment of?António?Costa to lead the European Council is great news for the European Union. Our Union gains a great politician, a committed European and an exemplary socialist leader. He is certainly the right person for this very demanding role,” our president Iratxe?García?stated.

On 15 July, the S&D Group is heading to Strasbourg for the first Plenary session of the new mandate. Follow us, as we’ll be electing the president of the European Parliament for the next2.5?years, as well as the vice-presidents and quaestors of the institution.?
