Scuba Fabric – The Art of Loop Combination

Scuba Fabric – The Art of Loop Combination

Knit fabrics produced by circular knitting machines are composed of three basic loop formations: knit stitches, tuck stitches, and float stitches (knit loops, tuck loops, and float loops). In a sense, we can say that knit fabrics are the art of loop combinations.

The scuba fabric features a three-layer composite structure, with a clear surface, soft hand feel, and even texture. It is composed of a top layer, bottom layer, and middle layer. Using a double-sided knitting circular machine, its structure employs a special three-layer knitting technique, where the top and bottom layers are independent, while the middle layer is connected by DTY yarn with tuck stitches.

Fabric Structure and Materials

The top and bottom layers of this scuba fabric are single jersey. The top layer is made of gray-white polyester-cotton blended yarn, which is tight and wear-resistant. The bottom layer uses softer, more comfortable white polyester-cotton blended yarn, providing a better skin-friendly feel. The bottom and top layers have a similar stable knitted structure, offering support for the overall fabric.

The core part of the fabric is the middle layer, which can be separated independently from the top and bottom layers. Once the top layer is unraveled, the middle layer of fluffy DTY yarn appears, with a scale-like appearance. This DTY yarn is connected to the top and bottom layers through tuck stitches, forming air pockets that allow air to circulate within the fabric, achieving a warming effect. Meanwhile, the DTY yarn connection prevents excessive unraveling of the middle layer, enhancing the fabric's stability.

Main Features of the Fabric

Warmth: The structure of this scuba fabric creates tiny air pockets within the material, effectively trapping heat and providing excellent warmth, making it ideal for fall and winter garments.

Breathability: Despite its warmth, the multi-layer structure allows air to circulate freely, preventing overheating and ensuring comfort.

Lightweight and Elastic: Made from lightweight yarns, this scuba fabric offers excellent elasticity and comfort, ensuring a non-restrictive fit while allowing for free movement.

Soft and Comfortable: The top and bottom layers are made from durable yet comfortable polyester-cotton yarn, providing a soft touch and comfortable wearing experience.

Functionality: This scuba fabric combines windproof, warmth, and breathability, making it widely used in sportswear, outdoor clothing, fashion leisurewear, and other fields, catering to various occasions. It has become a highly favored choice in modern textiles.

In Conclusion

This scuba fabric combines modern craftsmanship with traditional functionality, making it suitable for diverse applications, particularly in garments that prioritize comfort, warmth, and breathability.
