Scrum and North IT Group
Here we go to the end with our series about “Scrum”. We told you what is Scrum and how it works, but what it means to us? Last part of our series – Scrum and North IT Group.
We asked our CEO and Scrum Master Stephan what he thinks about Scrum and its results in the company:
Stephan, you are certified as a Scrum Master. Why did you do this education?
I wanted to become a Scrum Master to improve the project management and development in our company. Therefore, I saw and still see Scrum as the most suitable approach for us.
Was it difficult to introduce Scrum into the company?
In my opinion, it is not very easy. It is a completely different management approach than what we normally use. It is essential to accept that everyone has an equal voice and that as a manager you listen to all other opinions even you have a completely different opinion. Also, in my opinion, Scrum only works with high skilled and dynamic teams which really want to achieve high hanging fruits. With people who only works by or are waiting for orders, Scrum will never work.
What are the results for you and the team?
For me, the advantages are quite clear. Firstly, everybody is involved in the team and knows about status. Every opinion is important and everyone is activated for the day. Secondly, we communicate transparently and in the end everybody in the development team knows exactly what the others need. Last but not least, the Product Owner gets exactly what he or she has ordered.
Do you think that Scrum is fully implemented?
We're on the good path. We hold our Daily Scrum every day, even when we are on business trips, we connect through MS-Teams to the meetings. However, full implementation requires compliance with all Scrum principles and rules and that - requires a longer period of time. Personally, I would be happy if we have adopted Scrum completely by the end of 2020.
Thank you, Stephan, that you shared your time with me for the interview.
You're welcome Alexej.
