Scrum Master Role Will Disappear. This topic might be a bit controversial, but I have a feeling that sooner or later there will be no Scrum Masters needed in an Agile Team. If your a self managing, self organizing, self enabled team and everyone on the team understands the Scrum process and best practices, there will be a time in the very near future that you don't necessarily need a Scrum Master. Don't get me wrong, every team member will have to still be enabled by the Scrum Master to be successful in their adaption of the framework, values and principles, thus there is still a significant value in learning and mastering the scrum master roles and responsibilities, however this becomes an organic extension of each team members skill sets. There is really no reason why any team member cannot remove their own impediments or help each other overcome the blockers. In the end there are no colored jersey for a role, it's a blended team and all you see is the spirit to achieve the goal.

3 年The role of scrum master is not limited to making the team understand scrum process. The scrum master is the guardian of the scrum process who ensures that scrum is being practiced and all anti patterns are kept to a minimum. And… I don’t think without a scrum master, any team can ensure the sanity of the scrum process….
In my humble opinion, the SM role will never be disappeared as long as the organisation or team is following the Agile/Scrum framework. For example, if any new organisation wanted to transition to Agile/Scrum from waterfall, they need SM and AC, as their maturity level is just at beginning. To become that high-performance team, they need time, practice and SM to improve their maturity level. There is no doubt that this title may be rebranded to something else, however the servant leadership will remain in need and in demand.
