I've just had a friend on the phone, fuming. It's Christmas Eve. Most companies close a little earlier than usual, if they can.
The team have just been informed that all Management are leaving today at 1pm. They, however, working on National Minimum Wage, will be staying until normal close of business, 5pm.
What are your thoughts?
I train Managers and Leaders, and in a classroom, online, or forum setting, I have never known anyone share anything other than text book replies on how they manage people.
Scrooge resented Bob Cratchit having one day off a year. Scrooge is a fictional character, yet his lack of concern for humans as whole beings, with needs similar to his makes A Christmas Carol such a charming story, of kindness overcoming meanness.
Yes, we are better off now than in the times of Scrooge, yet somehow Managers misuse their power and authority to others.
This is a real story happening right now, as I write. The effects of this will last long into 2020, and beyond.
The irony is some of these senior people may watch A Christmas Carol tonight. I wonder what may resonate.

5 年This shows massive selfishness and a total disregard for others. The “managers” appear to think they are better than other people. Oh dear. Maybe if all the staff resign at the same time and give this as the reason then “management” may learn.
