THE SCRIPTURE TODAY
Sometimes it is easy to allow prayer to slip away in our busy lives. Jobs take lots of our time, household chores need to be done, our children need our attention along with their school activities, and many other issues. Even if you have not prayed lately, God is patiently waiting for us to come to him in prayer.
For us to understand the importance of prayer, we can read about how often Jesus went off by himself to pray. If Jesus found it necessary to pray, we should follow his example.
Here are a few scriptures showing us that Jesus regularly prayed.
Luke 5:16; 6:12; 9:18, 28 (KJV)
5:16 “And he withdrew himself into the wilderness, and prayed.”
6:12 “And it came to pass in those days, that he went out into a mountain to pray, and continued all night in prayer to God.”
9:18 “And it came to pass, as he was alone praying, his disciples were with him: and he asked them, saying, Whom say the people that I am?”
9:28 “And it came to pass about an eight days after these sayings, he took Peter and John and James, and went up into a mountain to pray.”
Prayer is similar is some ways to weightlifting. When we first start praying, it seems like a heavy difficult task. However, the more we pray, the easier it becomes.
May the Lord richly bless you.
