Screen Innovations - Funky installations

I very much enjoy working in the consumer electronics industry and have done so for many, many years (since 1974 to be exact).

What inspires me are dealers who share their really funky installations (panel installs bore the heck out of me and I pay them no nevermind because everyone does those).

When I see an installation that raises my eyebrows and puts a smile on my face and, hopefully, has a product or two that I represent...you now have my attention.

Recently, one of my valued Screen Innovations custom integration partners took delivery of the first 160" Solo Pro 2 screen, using the Slate 1.2 gain material sold in the province of Ontario.

The Solo Pro 2 screen in question is powered by an AC plug. One of the Solo Pro2 available power options is the wireless, motorized system that uses a Lithium-Ion rechargeable battery pack.

However, the largest screen available with that option is 110".

I called the dealer to ask for his permission to use his name in this post (he said no problem) and to find out more about this installation.

Here goes...

Unlimited Home Theatre is a small custom integration company located in Apin, Ontario and is headed by Mr. Jeff Beam.

I met Jeff a few years back when I was representing another supplier (whom I am no longer associated with) and I found Jeff to be extremely personable, friendly and very knowledgeable.

Jeff reached out to me in 2018 in regard to an email blast that I did regarding Screen Innovations and he asked me what the pricing was like?

When Jeff heard the pricing his reaction was the same as most dealers and consumers... SI may be a little pricey for his clientele.

However, after a while, Jeff signed up to sell SI through the previous Canadian distributor and purchased a Solo Wireless, Motorized screen for his display.

Jeff was blown away with the screen when he received it and called to let me know just that.

He told me that he was not sure how many screens he could sell in a calendar year and I told that as long as he did his best and promoted the product, he would most probably find consumers that will spend the money because of the quality, unique and elegant solutions and, of course, tech support, should it ever be required, that I truly believe is second to none from Screen Innovations!

Fast forward to 2019 and Jeff has sold a few screens (his love seems to be the Solo Pro2) and his crowning glory is the SPT160SL12, a whopping 160" screen using the AC power option that he just completed installing a couple of days ago.

Actually, this is the very first 160" Solo Pro2 sold in Ontario and here are some details of the project...

Projector used: Epson HC2150 - Approximate CAD$1,200 featuring 1080P resolution and 2,500 ANSI Lumens.

Screen Innovations SPT160SL12 - CAD$8,247.

Throw distance:16'

Installation site: Referred to as a very large toy room with lots of sports memorabilia.

One would ask, why did the client only spend approximately CAD$1,200 for the projector and CAD$8,247 for the screen?

I would suspect that the client had about CAD$10,000. to budget for the projection system and believed that with the ever-improving projector technology available and pricing becoming much more affordable in a few years he would most likely upgrade to a 4K projector of his choosing (or possibly a higher resolution projector) but the screen would remain in place.

Since much of the screen material's available through Screen Innovations are rated to 8K, this client, guided by Jeff has future-proofed his setup.

Kudos to you Jeff!

Remember, when offering a client a two-piece projection solution remember to future-proof that purchase by explaining to your customer why the screen is such an important part of the system.

I have one last image to share and, no, this is not a project done by one of my valued custom integration clients but one that I believe was done recently in the USA.

This space is so cool that I needed to share.

The screen that you see is probably one of SI's funkiest screens and unique to Screen Innovations

It is called the Zero-G and when the screen is fully deployed it looks like it is suspended in mid-air due to its lack of black drop material.

This picture reminds me of a funky "man-cave" (my apologies ladies) that is located North West of Toronto that the dealer who created it calls the Garagemahal.

I can visualize, in my mind's eye a Screen Innovations Zero-G in that environment.

Out of respect to the owner of the Garagemahal I have not included his name or actual location.

Do you have a "funky" installation that you would not mind sharing?

Please let me know!

My name is Sam Schwartz "Schwartzie" and I am the proud brand ambassador for the products that I represent in the province of Ontario.
