The Screen Addict | Uncharted

Although I’m big on gaming, I’ve never played the Uncharted series. I don’t believe this has had a negative effect on my viewing experience of 索尼 ’s feature film version – if anything it made me more open minded.
This a fun picture, I personally cannot get enough of Fantasy-Adventure franchises like Indiana Jones, National Treasure and whatever Dan Brown cooks up next for Robert Langdon. Keep ‘em coming please.
Interestingly, Uncharted (2022) is the first film to carry the PlayStation Productions logo in the opening credits. I guess Sony is pretty serious about diversifying their gaming branch.
Director Ruben Fleischer was the perfect man to chart Uncharted, if you ask me. Zombieland (2009) might not have been my cup of tea, but I loved what the filmmaker did with Gangster Squad (2013) and Venom (2018) for example.
Mark Wahlberg and Tom Holland map their way through some pretty blatant product-placement here and there, but hey – when your film doesn’t feature any superheroes these days, it’s just smart business to leverage the investment a little bit.
Wahlberg is just fine. Ever since he went full meta and essentially played an exaggerated version of himself in Entourage, he’s become a much more interesting actor.
Holland appears to be Sony’s current crown jewel – the worldwide box office of Spider-Man: No Way Home (2021) and Uncharted alone amounted to $2.3 billion in 2021 and early 2022. They are not letting this kid out of their sight anytime soon, I promise you.
Always lovely to see Antonio Banderas pop up in a film, especially as the bad guy. I had not seen Tati Gabrielle in anything before, but I am quite convinced we will see a lot more of this stunning screen presence in films and series to come.
Sony’s multi-level brand marketing did exactly what it’s supposed to do for this consumer – I am now sufficiently curious and incentivized to also give the games a go.
