Scrappy within reason
We’re often told to not let perfect get in the way of good, which is perfectly reasonable-sounding advice.?
And yet this wisdom can go awry rather quickly when we use it as a license to obviate all common sense and produce obviously haphazard work.?
You don’t need a flawlessly written report, but you do need one that coherently covers your main ideas.?
You don’t need a product without bugs, but you do need one that actually solves a problem in a manner that your customer finds acceptable.?
Otherwise, what is the point??
Scrappy is a vice without guard rails, and a virtue when paired with common sense.?
Not letting perfect get in the way of good not only requires you to be able to recognize the difference between perfect and good but to also appreciate and recognize the difference between between good and bad.?
As a rule of thumb, if you’re struggling to tell the difference, it’s probably the latter.?
